My regular lung Dr I Dr DeDios. Due to unseen reason I got stuck with Dr Gupta. He came in and I explained I just got out from ER after 9 hours from having a partially collapsed and rib contusion. I was told to go see my primary, but he cannot help me becuase I have a lung specialist and he can't help me. He said they don't prescribe pain killers. Dr Gupta said go to the ER for pain meds. I just left Day Kimball Hospital and they prescribed nothing. I am not looking for pain meds, I need to find a reason this is happening and how to prevent this in my future. All he could say was to keep my voice down as there other patients. Yet, there were NO OTHER PATIENTS IN ANY ROOM. I have hearing loss and yes I speak louder than most. Most unprofessional and uncaring doctor I have ever met. Avoid at all cost.

I have severe sleep apnea and the doctor prescribed me a CPAP. At my first appointment, which lasted less than ten minutes, he basically reeled off what sounded like a memorized speech about having a sleep study and seemed annoyed at my questions. At my follow-up instead of discussing the CPAP machine he told me I need to lose weight or I'm at risk for heart failure. I see a GP and my blood pressure and everything else have always been fine, but the way he spoke put me in a panic. I have a few conditions that can cause weight gain and make weight loss particularly difficult, and brought those up, and he said he couldn't speak to losing weight with those, but most people—and at this point I interrupted him because he's not supposed to tell me what the general public should do, he's supposed to be treating me, an individual, who has those conditions. He tried to gloss over it but insisted that weight loss was important to control sleep apnea, and lifestyle changes would not help. He then told me I was getting off track and twice brushed me off, telling me to make a follow-up for three months before hurrying off the call. Again, it seemed like he was reciting a speech he'd practiced hundreds of times and was annoyed at me for interrupting it. I was left panicked and devastated. I'm 39 and thought my life was over unless I lost weight. Thankfully I called my GP and was told that heart failure is only a risk of UNTREATED sleep apnea, and that with my latest AHI of 1.8, I have nothing to worry about, including weight loss. I spent the afternoon panicking and crying because of his poor communication and outdated ideas, and needless to say, I will NOT be making a follow-up visit with him. It's shameful to use these scare tactics with patients who are already facing a new and scary diagnosis, and the doctor needs to remember that he's not just paid to go through a speech, he's speaking to human beings he's charged to care for.
