Excellent
Both he and his fellow, we’re outstanding. He was engaging, answered all questions, and laid out tools that we can use to get in touch with him. He did a very thorough exam and field. Lucky to be part of his patient panel.

Disinterested, dismissive
A neurology Fellow performed a highly perfunctory neurological exam relative to the standard to which I’m accustomed, making it impossible to establish a non-subjective baseline. Dr. Amato would not shake my hand on entrance nor introduce himself, but Fellow hastily and inaudibly provided an incomplete and inaccurate 40 yr medical history in less than 60 seconds. Dr. Amato spent 5 minutes with me, appearing bored yet impatient. He appeared disinterested in meaningful communication, not asking a single question other than expressing doubt of the previous severity of my condition. He did not ask if I had questions, concerns, or goals. He offered no opportunity for meaningful discussion, and both providers were dismissive of treatment protocol of 14 years (administered by founder of Johns Hopkins Neurology) or of case-specific pathology, despite full remission. He even questioned a correct diagnosis. My experience with this Dr. aligns with other poor reviews.

Dismissive, arrogant. New concerned for my well-be
The fellow neurologist who was working with Dr. Amato, was excellent. However, Dr. Amato spoiled a perfectly good appointment and disregarded the information given to him by the fellow. Dr. Amato ridiculed previous neurologist I've been to.

Arrogant & condescending specialist. He is the smartest person he ever met. If you are looking for someone to show care and compassion in his office find the janitor, you will get more care and compassion. This guy would tell Mother Theresa how to better feed the poor in India and how she was doing it wrong.

Very bad. I made the appointment with this doctor based on the experience listed on the BWH website. I was looking for a diagnosis of my symptoms, ordering requisite tests and ongoing care. Instead I was switched to a junior doctor without my assent. Dr Amato's name does not even appear on Patient Gateway as the healthcare provider. On the appointment day he showed up 25 minutes after the junior Dr did testing, in which I do not have confidence. He proceeded to do a perfunctory five minute alleged test, suggested tests he would not order stating he had "been contracted to test if the symptoms were neuromuscular" and breezed out. He then wrote on Patient Gateway that I had not made a self referral(????). I have to find another neurologist since I am left from where I started. A doctor has rarely angered me as this one has. Avoid this Dr .

Dr Sunjay Sethi was courteous and conducted a very thorough physical exam prior to meeting with Dr Amato. Dr Amato, however, seemed disinterested in my case, was condescending (he did not introduce himself and spoke with Dr Sethi as if I was't in the room) and was unable to provide much assistance with my health condition. I am very dissatisfied with my experience at Brigham and Women's Neuromuscular.

Terrible bedside manner. I have never given a physician such a poor rating. Rolled his eyes when we asked him if our daughter could ask some questions by phone. Not at all like all of the other neurologists we are working with at Brigham.

I was impressed with Dr. Amato. He was charming, polite and answered any and all questions I had. He spoke in understandable terms. He could have ordered more tests and didn't because they would not have impacted anything I was doing. I would highly recommend him.

Came to see Dr Amato for possible diagnosis of ALS. He spent maybe 5 minutes with us and never introduced himself. Made us feel like he had better things to do and left all the testing with a students. At the end of the visit we were forced to walk into a dark hallway with no direction. The person at the desk did not even know how to make an appointment for us. After waiting we were told someone would call us. NEVER HEARD BACK!!!

terrible experience and a waste of time and money. He didn't listen, talked right over me, and had no empathy or interest in how symptoms effect daily living/goals/ambitions. There are great physicians in Boston, don't waste your time here. I'm not a difficult patient and simply wanted a consult on progressing symptoms. I was practice for his students and then saw him for maybe 5 minutes. He couldn't leave fast enough.
