Dr. Anthony Njapa & staff are unprofessional/rude. My previous dr. (at Coastal MDS) left the practice so Dr. Njapa began consulting me. I had high glucose levels & although I had never met Njapa he felt confident to diagnose me over the phone with T2 diabetes & prescribe me meds. I went to see an Endocrinologist in Chicago for a 2nd opinion & the endo told to me that it is impossible to determine T1 vs T2 diabetes from 1 lab result & ordered tests to help determine the type of diabetes. Upon returning to Wilmington I needed a local endo & a referral from my general pract. to get an endo appointment. Suddenly it was "vital" that Njapa see me in person bc he can't possibly write a referral without seeing me (although he was fine w diagnosing/medicating me w/o meeting me). I asked what would be gained by being in person. Njapa probably wanted to charge me for the visit which he couldn't if he faxed the referral to my Endo. To cap it all off he called me an idiot & hung up on me.

Will never recommend because the doctor is in for 3 minutes! Didn’t listen to heart, lungs or anything. I tried to ask a question but he was out the door

I have been seeing Dr. Njapa for almost a year once every month or two. He is knowledgeable, an excellent communicator, highly professional, and in general a wonderful person. I have worked with hundreds of research physicians during my career. While I see Dr. Njapa as a patient, I believe he scores in the top 10% of physicians I have encountered.

Incompetent staff and doctors. Information be relayed incorrectly, or not at all, test results never gone over with me, referrals never sent, prescriptions not being sent to the correct pharmacy. The list goes on and on. Spare yourself and find another PCP.

The worst Doctor I've ever had, he routinely forgets to call in prescriptions, he is not understanding and makes medical decisions that are harmful to people. Oh and he left the office in the middle of an appointment one time and they made me come back to finish it the next day. Extremely unorganized and unprofessional, patients are not treated like people. Was told to see another doctor because he wasn't making enough money off my insurance. considering malpractice complaint.
