Board Certified Neurosurgeon Rochester, NY
I felt this is a conservative Doctor who does surgery only if necessary. As a patient who needed surgery, he explained things and definitely left decision up to the patient. As a patient who moved forward, Dr Petraglia performed my extensive spinal surgery. I have progressed well and continue to heal. I am currently in PT. Dr. Petraglia has a great staff. His PA is excellent. Nursing staff was helpful with phone calls and were very considerate. Office staff was great also. Messages were passed along and responses were prompt. Calls for medication refills were prompt. I recently was seen by Dr Petraglia and he is pleased with my progress. I definitely would recommend this Dr. Petraglia.

He was wrong
It is a good thing I sought out other neurologists following my very unpleasant visit with Dr Petraglia. But it was not soon enough. He has a good reputation and I thought he knew his stuff, so I was bedridden for 9 months, trying other options to search for the cause of my pain. During the appointment, he was very confrontational and was 100% confident that my symptoms were not related to my spine. Instead of educating me, he argued with me. I have never had that experience before or after with another physician. Two years later, I have had two extremely successful back surgeries. I am back to cycling 200 miles a week in season, winter hiking, yoga, tennis, and weightlifting. So, Dr Petraglia it WAS my spine.

After an MRI showed I had Cervical Myelopathy, my neurologist referred me to Dr. Anthony Petraglia for a surgical consultation. Dr. Petraglia met with me, explained what the MRI images showed, and patiently answered all of my questions. His overall recommendation was that I needed a Laminectomy and Fusion of the C3-C4. His office staff, especially Mary, were extremally helpful not only with the scheduling of my initial appointment but the surgery and post op appointments as well. During my Post Op appointment, I met with PA Anthony Dambra who also provided me outstanding support. It’s been about 6 weeks since my surgery and not only am I not experiencing any pain but I have already noticed an overall improvement in my condition. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Petraglia and PA Dambra!

Dr Petraglia helped tremendously
Dr Petraglia, listened and answered in ways you understand. Another surgeon was afraid to do my surgery 10 yrs ago. He had confidence he could help me and wasn't afraid. He gave me my life back without the pain levels (4-6) I had most of my life (50yrs), I'm now 62 yrs old.

Rebuilt Spine
Dr. Petraglia had the expertise to rebuild my spine that had damage everywhere. It was a long & difficult surgery & three months later, I am brace free, pain free & able to continue practicing neck movements at home. He is caring & easy to converse with. He made sure that I understood everything before &after.

Great Doctor!!
From beginning to end I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Petraglia performed two fusions in my neck to keep me safe from Cervical Myelopathy (spinal cord compression). He was straightforward, informative, and very professional. His bedside manor was wonderful as was his staff, most notably his PA Anthony.

Review of Dr. Petraglia
Dr. Petraglia's bedside manner was outstanding (although I was not in bed). He was honest, straightforward and direct about the nature of my injury, its diagnosis, and treatment. His treatment hit the nail on the head, and although it was tedious and long but apparently it was successful. In addition to his competence, his attitude, friendliness and sincerity were outstanding

Awesome Experience!
Had a C6-7 laminectomy on May 14. Was back at work in 4 days. One day on painkillers. Amazing skill by Dr. Petraglia and his team. Highly recommend to anyone with cervical spine issues. His PA Anthony Dambra is tremendous. The entire team including anesthesiologist and nurses was beyond great. All of my left arm pain was gone in a week. Now back working full time. Need to follow orders about not lifting more than 10 pounds or those neck muscles will feel it.

Highly recommend Dr Petraglia
Dr Petraglia is one of the best neurosurgeon around. He absolutely took his time to understand the needs of the patient and explained every option that was available to me for my specific needs. His one on one consultation's is above the rest. I felt totally relaxed after my visit and knew I was in the right hands. Also the entire staff from receptionists to his PA Anthony Dambra are among the best you will encounter. Thank you Dr Petraglia , Anthony Dambra and staff ,

Amazing! Miraculous recovery!
Dr. Pretraglia is amazing! From diagnosis, to surgery to follow up He was very personable. Going into the surgery we were very concerned about the risks, Dr Petraglia assured us he would do everything in his power to achieve success with removal of a tumor. He did it! My father is on the road to recovery and doing better than we had hoped. We are elated with how my Father has recovered. Thank you Dr Petraglia! God bless you!

Excellent Doctor and Person
I was associated with my prior Neurosurgeon for more than 20 years. Before he retired, he gave me a list of Neurosurgeons that he recommended. At that time none had extensive reviews to steer people to, or away from doctors on the list. As the time approached that I was having more and more neurological troubles I decided to call the office of Dr. Anthony Petraglia. I found his staff to be very kind. informative and professional. I was first evaluated by Dr. Petraglia. then he went into open review of my previous neurological problems and treatments. As we talked, I remember thinking that this guy actually listens intently to what you're saying to him, then follows with questions and recommendations. Not once through any of our conversations have I found Dr. Petraglia talking down to me or being condescending in any way. Long story short, he performed a successful cervical spinal fusion on me with zero complications. He's a great man and Neurosurgeon as well. Who could ask for more?

Amazing Surgeon
Dr. Petraglia and Anthony Dambra are amazing. In August I had a cervical laminectomy with spinal fusion at c4-c7. Dr. Petraglia was very patient with me as I asked questions, he took time with me and did not rush me. He explained the surgery and recovery and was very honest about it. I did develop C5 palsy mostly in my left arm. With OT. I have regained the use of my arm. I found Dr. Petraglia compassionate, professional and understandable. I feel so much better that I had the surgery and I highly recommend him.

Neck Surgery
Had a laminectomy on c4-c7 in my neck on July of 2020. Woke up from surgery in worse pain than I went in. They told me it could take up to 2 years for the nerve pain to subside. Him and his PA are nice guys but they are not very willing to say something went wrong. I have never received a follow-up call to see if I had any improvement. I guess I would think twice to do this surgery knowing I could come out worse than when I went in. It has been 3 and a half years with still no improvement. I would recommend getting at least a couple opinions before I let someone work on your spine. Unfortunately I haven't played golf for over 3 years which pre surgery I was playing 4 days a week.
