Inguinal Hernia Repair
Dr. Walter performed a laparoscopic surgery to repair my inguinal hernia. He repaired my inguinal hernia, but the surgery resulted in a much more painful spermatic cord lipoma. No major complications, but I'm worse off now than if I didn't have the surgery.

During an unnecessarily prolonged Transduodanal Sphincteroplasty surgery on my Wife for Chronic Pancreatitis he had to call in a Cardiologist because her heart rate dropped below 30 bpm. Was supposed to be 2-3 hour surgery and ended up being 4 hours. Had to be admitted to the Cardiology Ward for a week for monitoring. In his office before surgery we asked if he had experience doing this type of surgery and he said, "Yes". Afterward, He said this was the first one of this procedure he had done. So You make your own conclusions! Would give 0 rating if possible.

I had a negative experience with Dr. Barry F. Walter and I highly recommend that others steer clear of him. I was in excruciating pain and he saw me for less than 3 minutes and said "I don't know what to tell you" and "I do thousands of these each year and you're fine". I've been to the ER two times since and now I finally found a competent surgeon who has studied all of my tests and is now putting me through MRI to dig deeper and help me solve this devastating pain I've dealt with for over 14 days. Was weird how cold-hearted everyone at this place was. Important to note that this office was not practicing social distancing and only doctors had masks. All other employees are working on top of each-other and not wearing masks when dealing with patients.

I am a 71-year-old male diagnosed with a paraesophageal hiatal hernia. My stomach was in my chest and had turned. I first saw Dr. Robert Ahmed who is an excellent surgeon with Virginia Surgery Associates. I was told that I am in danger of having my condition turn for the worst if not treated. Dr. Walter assisted in this procedure because of his experience in repairing this kind of hernia. I am very pleased that he did. Within 3 weeks of recovery I have had minimal pain, no problems swallowing, I am eating almost near to what I had been, no reflux, my stomach is back where it belongs, although I do get tired my activity level is increasing, and I am back on my job. My sincerest thanks to both these superb surgeons. Their combined skills to repair a very complex and complicated hernia was exceptional! I can not praise them enough for the quality of life they have given me. For this I am eternally grateful to Dr. Walter and Dr. Ahmed, saying thank you is just not enough, … nor is 5 stars.

Dr. Walter and Virginia Surgery Associates provided excellent services. They were able to diagnosis my issue immediately and were amazingly responsive and caring. A serious problem undetected by other physicians was resolved with a procedure and out-patient surgery. High marks for professionalism, expertise, and genuine concern.

I received the most professional and complete care for a bilateral hernia repair thanks to Dr Walter and his fine staff at VSA and at the Glen Echo Center. I could not be more pleased. This was my first surgery and I am 69. I had some trepidation and all that was immediately mitigated by all involved. Mike Finn

Dr. Walter is awesome ! My daughter had been to 3 emergency rooms, seen numerous doctors and no one could diagnose her condition. Doctor Walter listened carefully to her issues, suggested a few more tests and diagnosed her problem - mals. Dr. Walter's nurses were very helpful in the process as well. I am convinced that if we had not met Dr. Walter, my daughter would not have a gall bladder and she would still be in pain and we would still be searching for her issue.

Dr. Walter was fantastic. I got through my surgery with very little pain and everything went as expected. I was up and moving around in a couple days and didn’t even miss work. If I ever need surgery again he will be my surgeon.

Dr. Barry Walter is an outstanding surgeon and 100% committed to the care of his patients. He saved my life from colon cancer which was a complex presentation! Post precautioanary radiation treatment Dr. Walter was committed to address my chronic bowel obstruction condition which other doctors I consulted offered no real solution. Dr. Walter unturned every stone ultimately leading to a capsule endoscopy which uncovered radiation enteritis , surgically resolved the issue offering me NEW HOPE!!!

He is a doctor who does not care about his patients, he does not mind finding appointments for close surgery, despite having a lot of pain the patient has to wait, and his nurse is the same, she does not answer the calls nor return the messages, too bad doctor and bad attention.

All he had to do was remove my sutures from my operation to remove a cyst 10 days prior. He couldn't accomplish this task and left a suture behind, which generated scar tissue and a rash. When I called after hours to complain about the situation, nobody from VSA returned my call.
