My Disappointing Experience with Dr. Bret Scher I sought out Dr. Bret Scher for a second opinion on my heart health, specifically because he appears knowledgeable based on his participation in The Metabolic Mind podcast and The Bazuki Group. Given his involvement in these platforms, I expected a thorough, well-prepared consultation with clear, evidence-based guidance. I paid $1,500 for a 90-minute consultation and $300 for genetic testing that required Dr. Scher’s review before I could access my results. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations. Issues with My Consultation • Time & Lack of Preparation – Prior to scheduling the appointment, I was told that the price included a 90-minute consultation, but our session lasted only 60 minutes. It was clear that Dr. Scher had not reviewed the complete medical records I submitted in advance. He repeatedly asked questions that were already answered in those records, and his recommendations felt generic rather than personalized to my case. • Vague Guidance & Poor Communication – One of his key recommendations was a specific type of cardiac angiogram. However, his explanation was unclear, and I still do not fully understand how his recommendation differs from a standard angiogram. My primary cardiologist later disputed this recommendation. • Failure to Follow Up – I emailed Dr. Scher asking him to coordinate with my cardiologist to discuss the angiogram and another of his recommendations. He did not respond for 8 days. When I followed up, he assured me he would reach out—but months have passed, and he never contacted my cardiologist. • Delayed Access to My Genetic Test Results – The genetic testing company notified me that my results were ready, yet Dr. Scher did not approve my access for over a week, despite my attempts to contact him. Final Thoughts & Recommendation For a $1,500+ consultation, I expected a thorough, well-prepared, and personalized experience with clear follow-up and accountability. Instead, I received a rushed appointment, minimal insights, lack of responsiveness, and no follow-up. • Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Scher for private cardiology consultations. If you are considering booking with him, be aware that the preparation, communication, and follow-through may not meet your needs.
