An amazing doctor
I’m not sure what doctor the reviewers who left poor reviews saw, but I’m highly doubtful it was Dr. Brett Vassalo who is associated with Lutheran General Hospital. Dr. Vassalo was definitely one of the best doctors I have ever had. He came highly recommended as the most competent doctor in the area for my surgical needs by my gynecologist. I required fairly extensive surgery and Dr. Vassalo spent a considerable amount of time with me to understand my issues. I never felt rushed at any of my appointments and felt very confident in his abilities. He also had me undergo additional specific tests prior to surgery to rule out other issues that could have occurred post surgery. I have two friends who had the same surgery with other surgeons around the same time. Both had to undergo additional surgeries. I haven’t experienced any problems at all and highly recommend Dr. Vassalo.

Explained every step of the way what was going to happen and what I should expect. After surgery he talked to my husband immediately and everything was fine would highly recommend him. He's a great listener and cares very much about his patients

I would have given zero stars if it was an option. If you want a doctor who will actually LISTEN to you and your concerns both before and after a procedure this is NOT your guy. So full of himself I couldn’t even finish a single sentence without him interrupting and talking down to me - as if he has ever personally been in any woman’s shoes. Red flag: when you can’t get a full sentence in before, he definitely won’t care how you feel after the procedure either. Should’ve trusted my gut read: he’s a schmoozer and once you’re done with surgery you’re not “his problem” anymore because he is “just the bladder doctor” - direct words from Brett Vassallo.

Dr Vassalo misdiagnosed me. He said I didn’t need surgery and I need five procedures. He also wouldn’t take the pain that I was experiencing seriously and now they’re testing me for cancer. He had growth spurt a year and a half and he didn’t care

Bedside manner for my follow up was horrific! I didn’t follow rules to a T so I was scolded as Dr. Vassallo had a hand on his hip and his index finger pretty much in my face while he yelled at me. Left the office quite upset- will not return again
