Unresponsive to Concerning Emergent Symptom
Telehealth
Without going into gory details, after years of being her patient with regard to fibroids, I reported a sudden alarming unrelated symptom that a woman my age would have to take seriously. i called in 3 days in a row, was told she would call back, but she did not. I reported to both another practice owned by MASS GEN trying to set up virtual visit & test to rule out most ominous cause, but was refused, and am physically disabled. She was 'Memo-ed' by that practice after I reported to their Patient Relations as well as the third party Compliance line. A virtual was scheduled, during which she apathetically stated she never replies to an emergency; she schedules a visit, ( but she had NOT) and if I were 'regular' I.e. non disabled, like all her other patients, I would be there in person ! She was cavalier, dismissive, unapologetic, interrupted me, patronizing, lazy, attempted to get out of doing ANYTHING, agreed to order test, has not, acknowledged dire possibilities .HAS DONE NOTHING.

Even though I had a clear diagnosis, Dr. York-Best invalidated my symptoms and dismissed my concerns from the start. She refuses to change treatments, instead gaslighting me to believe that my symptoms have nothing to do with my condition, that I should look into other factors, even though those are the same factors that I had been trying treatment for without knowing I had endometriosis. It's typical for those with endometriosis to suffer and be misdiagnosed for years, which is bad enough, but to have a doctor, a specialist, knowing the fact of the endometriosis diagnosis, confirmed by a laparoscopy, telling me that my symptoms don't sound like endometriosis to her when those symptoms are extremely common for those with endometriosis... it's downright insulting to all those who came before me with endometriosis. Based on her expressed knowledge on endometriosis in my experience, she definitely needs to further her education in her profession. I would never recommend Dr. York-Best.

I've been torn to write this review for Dr. York-Best because she is one of the nicest doctors. However, I suffered for many years under her care because she insisted that it would be best for me to not have a hysterectomy and wait until I went through menopause. I started seeing Dr. York-Best when I was 43 and I suffered with severe pain and bleeding for 5 years. In 2020, I couldn't take the pain and bleeding anymore and decided that I was having a hysterectomy no matter what. Dr. York-Best agreed and scheduled a hysterectomy. She ended up having a family emergency so I reached out to Dr. Clark at MGH and explained my situation, she said that she would be willing to perform my hysterectomy the following week. My hysterectomy showed that I had a severe case of adenomyosis. Despite a few post surgery issues, I felt like a new person. My only regret was that I didn't insist on having a hysterectomy sooner because I felt like I suffered 5+ years of unnecessary pain and bleeding.

Dr. York Best is an outstanding Doctor, Surgeon, and wonderful human being. Before I met Dr. York Best, I suffered for a year with extremely heavy periods lasting weeks sometimes longer and I was finally diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids by my former gynecologist that wasn’t concerned about my fibroids. Dr. York Best listened and truly empathized with my concerns and made me feel so comfortable. It’s been a year since my surgery and I feel great! I would highly recommend Dr. York Best.

I started seeing Dr York Best during a very difficult time; I was faced with the difficult/ scary decision of having surgery to remove the fibroids that had been causing me extreme pain for 8 years. Not only did Dr York Best spend time with me during each visit to answer my questions and provide me with all my options she was also very kind, and genuinely sympathetic to all that I was going through. I never felt rushed and always felt well informed and listened to.
