I saw Dr. Pettyjohn for ~2 years. After complaining about IUD symptoms for the majority of my time with her she basically told me there was no way my symptoms were caused by the IUD and that there was no reason to remove it. Her office also told me (I was young at the time) that if I removed it the risk of having an unplanned pregnancy was quite high (did not mention using condoms, abstention, or non-hormonal methods like the copper IUD).
