Dr. Darshil Shah, MD

For the last 18 months approximately, I have been seeing Dr. Shah after being diagnosed with colon cancer. Dr. Shah is very, very thorough and does NOT neglect to address items which could become an issue later on. I sincerely appreciate his diligence and everything he has done for me. Without him, as well as my other medical team members, I'm not certain I would be here. Thank You Dr. Shah!!

Dr. Shah and his team at Ironwood Hematology Oncology provided care for my father during a very difficult time. Dr. Shah took his time to explain every step of the way, provide options, and ensure understanding of next steps. He and his team went above and beyond to ensure my fathers comfort during his treatments and allowed his family to be included as much as possible due to it being during COVID. Dr. Shah collaborated with others on the health team to ensure the most effective measures were taken. His compassion, along with the members of his team, made such lifelong difference not only for my father, but to our entire family. Dr. Shah and his amazing nurse Sandy continue to care for my Father and have essentially become such an important part of our lives.

Dr. Shah was very informative. He told me what his plan is and what the variables of my treatment was. He answered my questions and was very forthcoming with information. When I go to Ironwood, everyone is on time, willing to help, and seem caring. I had to go into surgery during my treatment and Dr. Shah showed up to check on me regularly. Everyone is helpful and nice at Ironwood. He is willing to work with me as a patient and has been great to have this experience with Dr. Shah and the team of Ironwood offices of Glendale and Avondale at my side. Also my nurse Joe has been great at checking up on me and making sure I'm doing well. The ladies at the front desk are knowledgeable and personable.

I would recommend Ironwood and Dr Shah to anyone who is diagnosed with cancer. He is kind, caring, and thorough. When I had my first appointment with him he was able to put me at ease with my diagnosis by explaining what I had, how they were going to treat me, and what all of my options were. He was positive, calm, and thoughtful. I have never felt pressed for time with him. His assistant, Mariel, is a very caring person who calls you back within minutes and always gets you taken care of. Mary in the oncology room is a blessing to everyone! She is so efficient and always a pleasure to spend time with. She feels like a friend.

I’ve recommend this office to friends and family already. The office seems to be very professional and efficient. The office staff is friendly. Dr. Shah is a very thoughtful doctor and seems to stay educated with what is going on in the medical community. When recommendations get modified by medical research, he modifies my treatment so I have the most up to date treatment plan. I really appreciated this.

Dr. Shah was recommended to me by another doctor. He has been attentive and warm, very thorough with information. Dr. Shah has gone way beyond what is expected and took the trouble to call an Oncology Surgeon directly for me setting up an appointment right away. He and his staff are by far the best comfort a patient could ask for, especially dealing with an endocrine tumor on the pancreas, a form of pancreatic cancer. Thank you Dr. Shah.

I’d definitely recommend Dr. Darshil Shah and Ironwood Cancer Center in Avondale. The staff is pleasant. They get you in really quick. My friends have told me about other cancer centers that weren’t so good. I actually enjoy coming to Ironwood Cancer Center in Avondale.

Dr. Shah and the staff of Ironwood value my life as much as I do. The entire staff of the Avondale and Glendale Ironwood Cancer Centers are wonderful!

He treats her well. Dr Shah is very precise about what he he explains. He’s a really good doctor. we really like him! The nurses in Avondale are really nice and they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

When I was diagnosed with a melanoma three years ago, the tests came back with a rare, progressive type. Dr.Shah called me personally and talked to me about doing agressive chemo. I didn’t want to go but Dr. Shah called again and convinced me to get treatment. I was told I would have only five days to live but Dr. Shah & Nurse Mary proved them all wrong. Dr. Shah and the good lord is the reason I’m here. No other doctor would follow up on patients with the concern and urgency as here.

I can't say enough nice things about Dr. Shah. Mary in the chemo lab is wonderful! Everything about Dr. Shah is good. He takes the extra amount of time to explain what's happening with my treatment. Sometimes I have to wait for him but I know it's worth it because he is spending the extra time with other patients, too.

I just started seeing Dr. Shah and he is great to work with and got us in right away.
