Would have chose zero stars if possible!
The meanest, rudest, no heart, no care for your voice and pain. He put me in worse pain and walked out of the 10 minute appointment when my husband and I needed help desperately since it’s kept me unemployed for 19 months, without a care! Do not expect this doctor to listen or help because he’s only about himself. What happened to good patient care? Sad!

Left with more questions than answers
Long wait. Dr Didn't preview report stated I just have a small herniation (at different spot than my concern from report). Said my pain wouldn't be caused by what he saw and said to do NCT when asked what would be possible treatments he said he didn't know until he got results. Had me walk across the room and then said or can just refer you to Iowa City. MRI report showed nerve root compression and slight spinal cord compression in upper thoracic but that wasn't addressed. Then when I asked for referal for second opinion was told it would be a week before he could transcribe his notes and get the referal out. I've a previous double fusion and he only appeared to look around that spot. Made me feel like like I was wasting his time and told me I can refer you out so you don't waste either of our time. Made me feel like a drug seeker instead of going over the MRI findings with me and coming up with possible treatment. Didn't even refer for PT or trigger point injections.

Dr. Boarini: Strong Medical Endorsement
Dr. Boarini's reviews emphasize his direct and assertive personality—you're not meeting him for tea. His straightforwardness should not intimidate you. Your condition is of utmost importance to you, but rest assured that Dr. Boarini has treated many individuals with similar or worse conditions. He performed a cervical laminectomy for me, and my surgical site healed within a month. Without the surgery, I would have had less than a year, as Dr. Boarini informed me. Initially, Dr. Boarini scared me, but looking back, it was fear of the unknown. Your feelings aren't paramount right now, and Dr. Boarini may be blunt if you're sensitive. It's worth noting that Dr. Boarini has strong endorsement from medical professionals I encountered along the way.

Excellent Doctor
Office visit with Dr. Boarini. He closely reviewed my new MRI with me and determined no new problems in cervical vertebra had developed since major surgery 11 years ago. Determined pain was from shoulder impingement and not neck. Recommended PT. Excellent interactions with him and his staff. Very pleased.

If your overweight don't bother
Wait at least 30 mins to an hour to see then if overweight won't help. Will keep telling you to come back and get more tests. Also will have you walk to the end of the room (4 steps) then say you'll be ok just loose weight. I redid mri for him and nerve test. Said nerve test was good but could see how bad my back was. Still will not help. Previous surgen actually went over and showed me mri scans and why he recommended surgery. He left the practice a week before surgery and I was stuck with this guy.

Ive only met Dr. Boarini once in the hospital after my Chiari surgery. (He didn't preform the surgery, he was discharging me.) I can’t believe how rude he was. He never looked at my incision before insisting that I would be leaving that day. Not only did he never look at me to check if I was fine to leave, he instead had a verbal yelling match with my mom in my room. My mom was just visiting me. I’m a young adult so for some reason he assumed that she was babying me because she was there. I had never met this man before so I don’t know what his problem was. He didn’t tell me what to do at home or what medicine I should take or why. He was horrid. I hope I never see him again.

I am confused at the low scores. I am almost 2 months post op. I had a herniated disc and several bone spurs. Dr. Boarini is a master at surgery. I could not have had a better surgeon. He fully explained everything before and even asked if I had more questions the day of. It was my 1st surgery and he had me secure knowing I was in good hands. I highly recommend him.

The spinal surgery that Dr. Boarini performed was very successful. I was losing control of my arms and legs. After the surgery I regained what had been lost. He did very well, and ten years later at age 72, I am very fit and active.

He did a Anterior Cervical Discectomy on me several years ago. True, he was not warm and fuzzy on my initial visit, he was direct and to the point. The minute I was out of surgery and awoke the pain was GONE! All of the negative reviews appear to me to be that he wasn't hugging them or holding a hand. It sounds like too many people really didn't want to hear the truth. If you need 100% sensitivity maybe you need to see a Psychologist instead. An Excellent Surgeon is what I got!

I have been a patient of Dr. Boarini for many years as he follows me for two separate medical issues. He is an outstanding surgeon. Yes, he is direct but honest. More importantly, he will not perform surgical procedures unless absolutely necessary. In my opinion, individuals who visit neurosurgeons should want a physician who understands that surgical procedures should be performed when it is the only option available.

The schedule staff and nurses were great and helpful. Mr. Boarini himself was over an hour late for my appointment, proceeded to tell me that I needed a surgery to fix my back, but refused to provide any details or answer any questions because my weight made me ineligible for the surgery. When asked what my weight needed to be so I could move forward, he couldn't even provide that answer. he was rude and arrogant. I waited over a month for the appointment just to completely waste my time.

We waited in the waiting room for over 30 minutes. He had not looked at our files once before we met with him. He did not do any type of physical examination. He had me walk 3 steps to the door-that was his entire exam. I was in great pain and all he said was "What I need you to do is lose weight." I had not gained weight until I became in pain and unable to move. His bedside manner was AWFUL-cold and uncaring. I would NEVER go back and NEVER recommend him to ANYONE. Don't waste your time.

Dr. Boarini preformed both of my surgeries. He's direct, to the point, professional and I felt/feel like he genuinely cared/cares about using his talent, experience and outstanding surgical skill to get me on a path to a pain-free future. Only six weeks post-op from surgery #2, I'm still healing - but I don't feel like I want to crawl out of my own skin to get away from the pain. He and his team are THE best.

I had seen Dr. Boarini back in 2013 for a lumbar fusion follow up after my own surgeon, Dr. Carlstrom had retired, needless to say I was VERY displeased. Like many others have said, I would wait nearly an hour in the exam room for him to come in and see me for less than five minutes. It was the same thing every single time and my examination would consist of me walking away from him and then toward him, then standing on my toes and then my heels, the end. TERRIBLE bedside manner!

My experience was horrible. He was very rude, abrupt and I felt that I was an inconvenience in his day. After waiting in the exam room for over 55 minutes he spent less than 5 minutes with me. He looked at my MRI for only a couple of seconds and recommended an epidural, Pt and an anti inflammatory. My daughter was trying to ask questions and he brushed them off like she was not even there. I feel that I should not be charged for the visit and will investigate it further. I would NOT recommend!!
