Definitely recommend!
Dr. Cave put me at ease immediately, had reviewed my health history, listened to my concerns and quickly and accurately proposed a plan that felt responsible, safe and comfortable to me. Having been a medical social worker and patient advocate, I am stingy with praise, but Dr. Cave deserves praise. Lucky you to be his patient!

Prefers invasive tests over patient care
Was in severe need of help back in January 2021. Due to pandemic, his office wouldn't let me see him in person for a physical examination. He tried to do a zoom visit (as a new patient) but he couldn't figure out how to get it to work and ended up doing my visit as an audio call on the phone. He scheduled an endoscopy (without ever meeting me face to face), but I ended up sick in the hospital and missed it. His office never rescheduled, yet kept emailing me to give them a review of my test. I'm sorry, but between pushing to do an invasive test without even meeting the patient first and then not following up but assuming the test was done when it wasn't (and never hearing back from him again), I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

Wonderful, very knowledgeable in a rare and on-going disease that I have had all my life called Peutz-Jeghers syndrome! He is the only Gastroenterologist in this area that could help me to not have my stomach removed, which was recommended by my previous gastro doctor and surgeon! I am sooooo thankful that the Peutz-Jeghers forum recommended him!

The facilities for colonoscopy at UMass were horrible. Waiting room filled with armed guards because of prisoner treatment. The examination room was so small and crowded, people had to squeeze inside just to close the door. Really!

I was asked to participate in a study conducted by UMASS Memorial after being admitted with a GI bleed. It turns out, I had a rare Dieulafoy lesion in the upper right colon, and was bleeding out. If not for the study, I would not have survived. If not for Dr Cave, I would not have survived. The study identified the location of the lesion, however it was through Dr. Cave's persistence that the bleed was found and cauterized. If not for Dr. Cave, I wouldn't be here today.
