I had an intake call with Dr. Michael. He understood my situation and gave clear advice that I should first go for an IOP program and potentially see him after. He seemed knowledgeable, professional, and very honest.

Kindheartedgranny has a change of heart
As stated in an other review on here I was a patient of Dr. Michael’s from 8/2017-5/2023. My advice is some Dr.’s change. I didn’t want to believe the reviews on here & I didn’t want to believe my own son, who said the same thing. I needed someone who was going to listen, be open minded and use my chart from the past to see that I couldn’t have a diagnosis that I was given because I would’ve have a major issue in 2016 with my original doctor before he retired. Doctors need to be great listeners, truly care about the patience’s needs and strive to make sure the medication is truly best for them and it okay to give with ALL of there medical issues like strokes. I have to say I was not prepared to have to find another psychiatrist, when I found out all of the issues that were going on with my own case. The saddest part, this isn’t the same Dr. Michael that I once knew. He once was the one who cared, listened & had empathy. Now, it’s seems like it’s all about the money.

Not helpful
Not a great listener. Symptoms became worse after treatment. Very bad at the “talk” part of psychology. Didn’t feel empathized with. Anxiety caused me to miss a couple appointments I had scheduled w him (though insurance still paid for it) so he canceled me as a client without so much as an email or a last prescription refill. I emailed him asking for a possible script refill before finding another doctor and he said there was nothing he could do. Ended up having to go cold turkey on my meds.

He listens very well and addresses my concerns.
Dr. David Michael listens very well and addresses many of my concerns. His advice goes beyond medication management. He listens to how my environment triggers certain reactions and gives advice about managing them. He is also concerned about me as a whole patient, not just as a psychiatric patient. He also sheds light on lifestyle choices.

Active Care
Always listens and walks through options with me, giving me pros and cons to everything, and listens to my other concerns while I ramble. Actually also nailed that I was anemic based on some of my random complaints lol! He's great.

Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt as I heard good things about his practice. The first red flag should have been when I told him I have hypotension and a history of dizzy spells and fainting, yet he insisted on giving me medication that would lower my blood pressure even further. Anything I said, it's like he went out of his way to do the exact opposite of what I needed. Dr. Michael's "treatment plan" made my anxiety and depression worse and worse after every medication was added. Every appointment I felt unheard. When I tried to bring up my concerns he laughed at me and deflected blame on my therapist. At my final appointment, I finally brought up my concerns and he laughed and told me to find another provided. The best advice he's given me yet!

Dr. Michael is the kindest and most caring doctor I have ever had. He is incredibly smart and knowledgable, while also being warm and understanding. I could not recommend him highly enough. I feel so lucky to have him as my psychiatrist.

Inaccurate diagnosis and wouldn't recommend. Only cares about the money, not the patient.
