Dr. Tien is always professional, extremely kind, compassionate...just a really nice doctor!

My son is 2 and has been wearing glasses for a year. Dr Tien initially discouraged glasses at our visit last year because he didn’t think my son would keep them on. I disagreed and he did write the prescription for them. Last week we went back for his annual check up and Dr. Tien again discouraged the use of glasses saying “If it were my kid I wouldn’t put glasses on him.” When I asked why he said at this age they don’t keep them on. I said he’s been wearing them for a year now and he does keep them on. Again he wrote the prescription but it left me feeling that he might not be the right doctor for us.

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Tien’s for about 10 years. He did my daughter’s eye surgery. He was great! No complaints. Staff is always friendly. Highly recommend Dr. Tien and his staff.

Dr. Tien calmed all my fears, did all the testing necessary and explained everything in detail. He is a solid Dr!

Spent 2 hours here but only about 8 minutes with the doctor (4 upon evaluation, and another 4 after dilation). There was very little explanation about what my child’s condition was. I was simply told he needed glasses, wear them full time and see the optical on the way out. Very rushed. Staff was very helpful and friendly, but waiting room was over filled and could not accommodate everyone. Overall dissatisfied and looking for a second opinion.

Dr. Tien is caring and I didn’t feel rushed. He is awesome with kids.

Dr. Tien is so kind and patient. He never makes us feel rushed when we have questions and he is very thorough. He’s also not an alarmist, which I appreciate.

I saw dr tien because of a drifting eye problem. They were very professional, no waiting, polite staff. They checked my vision and for color blindness. He explained my condition and gave me printed information as well . I would definitely recommend this doc to anyone dealing with eye muscle related conditions.

Dr Tien is always very pleasant when we visit the office! He takes the time with my child and thoroughly explains everything about the eye exam. Always asks if there are any questions he could answer for me as well. He performed eye surgery on my child a few years back to correct her Strabismis. My child had very good results, we follow up with him yearly! The eye glass shop in his office is always a pleasant place as well! The young lady that works inside was very helpful helping my child decide the best pair!

All staff were very helpful, the nurse who put the drops in my sons eyes gets a special honor for being so patient with him, he was difficult about it. R. Tien was great, answered all my questions and was great with my son also. Thank you again.

Dr Tien was kind and took time to discuss diagnosis and options with my son and me.

Di Tien was able to quickly diagnose my provlem, explained in detail what was wrong and how he could fix it. I under went a surgical procedure and he was able to restore my vision completely. I would highly recommend Dr. Tien.

Dr tien was very informative, kind to both of my children, and helpful. It can sometimes be challenging to take two children under 4 to an appointment where one needs to have their eyes dilated, but him and his team were wonderful, helped to try to comfort my little guy and be as efficient as possible without sacrificing care. My son has been seeing Dr. Tien since he was 12 months old. He is now 6 1/2 and we have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tien and his office staff every time. Dr. Tien is not only brilliant, but kind and thoughtful. He performed an eye surgery on my son at 18 months and I trusted him completely. We are very lucky to have him in Rhode Island.

Dr. Tien made things quick and easy! My almost 5 year old is so excited for his glasses!
