Extremely rude and downright mean. I was seeing him while admitted to hospital after complications with a recent surgery. Dr Defrances talks AT me as if I am disagreeing with what he said (which I was not whatsoever, I’ve always tended to trust doctors) and when I addressed this he said he’s used to being “yelled at for the way [he] talk[s] to people”. I guess that means he can’t control it? Horrible quality in a doctor. He made me cry twice within a day and a half when I was already in excruciating pain, which he of course undermined as well, saying that the pain I was “claiming to have” was “disproportionate” to what my scans and scopes and tests had shown… there were still several cultures and tests I’d yet to even have at the time. I cried to him that I am a very easy going, compliant patient, to which he responded “I’m not worried about who you are.” I requested to have my doctor changed and would never ever recommend this guy in a million years.

I found Dr. DeFrances to be very knowledgeable and thorough. He explained my condition to me and the course of treatment in a way I could understand and process. He explained my options and allowed me to have a say in the treatment that I was comfortable with, I liked that. I thought he was very friendly and courteous and I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends, as a matter of fact, one of my family members recommended him to me.

Dom is one of the better doctors ive been to. I used to go to a PCP who simply would come in and look at the computer screen while talking to me and never actually listen. Once he was done clicking the boxes in the screen he would be done with me. Dom is different. He cares about me as a patient and you can tell he REALLY wants to make us feel better. He talks to me like a human being and keeps notes but listens when i talk. I am so glad i changed doctors even though he is a little further

Probably an OK doctor, but definitely not a nice person. Incredibly condescending and has some kind of bizarre superiority complex (he must think he's more than just an internist. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but he's not the super genius neurosurgeon he thinks he is by any means). All of the reviews about his atrocious bedside manner and him not being the patient's PCP are and all true. He's too much of a jerk (being polite) to keep repeat patients.
