I needed cataract surgery. I had previously had poor results with multi focal contacts and glasses. I just needed cataract lenses for being nearsighted. I was content to have to wear reading glasses. Dr Kaplan kept encouraging me to get the multi focal lenses. I trusted him. Medicare doesn’t pay for these lenses, so in retrospect, I believe Dr. Kaplan had a monetary goal to implant these lenses. It’s been 14 months and my double vision has progressed to a vestibular ocular deficit. There is nothing I can do about it now except for months of visual and physical therapy for vestibular issues. Dr. Kaplan has been in complete denial. I do not recommend this doctor. If you need cataract surgery and are considering these lenses, please try out the glasses or contacts first. But if you have any doubts, go with the old fashioned implants. Don’t be fooled by any doctor who is encouraging you to go with the expensive implants. I have suffered the past 14 months and am looking at 6 months therapy
