Dr. Emmet Dyer, MD

Dr. Dyer responded to my request for a consultation the same day. I visited with him two days later and he read my MRI images and showed me the images as he went through them. I was referred for a possible spine issue but after viewing the images he couldn't see any blocking of the nerve canal. Dr. Dyer also had a colleague examine my right knee to help determine where the pain was centered. After examination, he referred me to the Charlotte Hip and Knee Center and his referral greatly assisted my being seen the same day as a walk-in. I can't emphasize enough his approach to my care and his follow through with the Hip and Knee Center.

Dr. Dyer was thorough in going over my MRI after listening carefully to my presenting symptoms. Transparent, he explored options and explained what he could do to address the etiology of my pain. His care and genuine concern were very apparent.

After trying conservative measures to resolve my leg numbness and pain, Dr. Dyer recommended surgery. This highly skilled surgeon was able to take me from pain and immobility back onto the tennis court with minimal pain and recovery time. I am so thankful for his skill and compassionate care.

It was a pleasure to meet Dr. Dyer for my first visit. We discussed my options for spine surgery, and after explaining our path forward I was pleasantly surprised of the path we will take. A consummate professional who took the time to study my case, I feel I am in good hands and fortunate to have Dr. Dyer to perform my surgery.

Dr. Dyer, is empathetic, who first listens to your annoyances and concerns, dedicates the time to you without looking at his watch so I waited about 1 hour and 15 to see it, but the moment you are with him you are his priority and nothing more. Dr. Dyer has a lot of knowledge and mastery in his area. He tells you about all the options you have according to your medical diagnosis and he is not in a hurry to take you to surgery if it is NOT necessary and if he does not do the type of surgery you need or that is the best according to all your medical history, he suggests another doctor of the same caliber as him. According to all my research that I did on him before seeing him, which showed that he was the best here in Charlotte NC, I can say that he is one of the best, if not the BEST in my opinion. It was worth waiting almost 3 months for my initial visit despite all the pain I'm in.

I have had 2 spine surgeries and luckily I was referred to Dr Dyer. Before my first surgery I was unable to use my arms very well. I couldn’t even pick up a drink. Although it was a long recovery, I got my life back completely. When I had problems with my lower back, I decided not to wait so long to have the surgery. He did an awesome job! I am 3 months out and doing so much better! Dr Dyer is not only an awesome surgeon but a very nice person to talk to. I would definitely recommend Dr Dyer!

This was a follow up visit after a fusion surgery at L4-5. I have been working with Dr Dyer for years and he always tries the least invasive option first.
