Dr. Haas, his team and staff are THE BEST!
I just celebrated my 10 year survivor anniversary of Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. Dr. Haas and his team were key in my treatment plan, recovery and success! Words just can’t adequately express how grateful my family and I are for Dr. Haas, his team and his staff! They take their time answering all your questions and addressing all of your concerns. He was able to use the Davinci robotic assist in my very lengthy surgery and my family informed me they were very good about communicating updates with them during my surgery. His staff was always very courteous, friendly and attentive. Dr. Haas and his team are absolutely who you want!

Excellent experience with Dr. Haas and his entire professional staff. Totally happy with my surgical outcome. On the way to recovery right now. After preliminary testing, Dr. Haas determined surgical intervention was necessary so repairs were made. My daughter had surgery with Dr. Haas several years ago so I would not choose any other surgeon. He is the best at what he does.

The decision that saved my father
I have enough words to thank Dr. Haas and his entire team for all that they have done for my family. My father was diagnosed with diverticulitis two years ago and it was a fact that at some point he would have to have surgery. We looked at many options and opinions of doctors in Mexico without really having confidence that everything would be fine. Immediately contacted Dr. Haas and sent him the results of the studies. We were surprised that within a few hours he contacted us and was really interested in taking care of the case. Reading the report of the surgery, there is no doubt that it was a complicated, difficult and tiring procedure that most probably would not have had the same satisfactory results as it has had so far. My father 4 weeks after the surgery is completely healthy, without complications, he can eat a normal diet and his recovery was extraordinary. We are very grateful from our hearts and with God for having found Dr. Haas and all his team.

Passes patients off.
I was referred to Dr. Haas who immediately (without ever speaking to me or seeing me at all) passed me off to Dr. LeFave. That was my first experience with the office. Dr. LeFave spent less than 10 minutes with me. He informed me that the entire ascending colon would need to be removed, and told me that his office would get me scheduled, with not much more info other than to tell me that the nurses at the hospital would explain what to expect for recovery. I just didn't feel confident in the care I would get. I felt like I was just another surgery. After being sent to this office following a misdiagnosis, I was extra anxious. I ultimately left and started over with a different surgeon in a different practice. Despite numerous calls and emails, as of this morning, they still haven't removed me from their surgical schedule which delayed Methodist in allowing the new dr to schedule me. It's been weeks. This is unacceptable and reinforces my concerns that patient care is not a priority.

Dr Haus was right up front with me from the first time I met him with my first visit. He and his entire staff left no room for doubt in my situation and what I was being faced with. I'm glad my family doctors sent me straight to him and I am thankful he was able to work me in. Had it been otherwise I'm not so sure, 13 years later, if I would be here writing this review today. I did not only meet and expert physician in his field, I feel I made a close friend for the rest of my life. No regrets

The Unexpected
Dr . Haas and Virginia, PA are top notch! Bedside manner A plus. I went in for a GYN surgery and due to other issues associated with my colon Dr. Haas was called in to assist with the surgery. Within hours of surgery I received a visit. Information about the surgery was explained in a detailed manner while also allowing me to ask questions. I never felt like my concerns were not important or that there was a hurry to visit the next patient. Since the surgery I have had several telehealth phone visits. As a fellow member of the health care industry I can without hesitation say both Dr. Haas and Virginia represent the BEST that healthcare offers and for that I am grateful.

Colon Resection
November 14, 2022 Dr Erik Haas, Houston Colon, and Houston Methodist Hospital is the best combination you can find. Latest Robotics and procedures give the least evasive surgery available. I traveled home to Texas from the British Virgin Islands just to have my Colon Resection performed by Dr Haas and I did not even need a colostomy bag. Test assured he’s the best. Thank you Dr Haas and Houston Colon staff Charles Steely Jr ((Chuck)

I will and have recommended Dr Haas and his group to others that need a reversal or having problems with their colon. I am so happy with my outcome from the surgery, it’s great not having to have a bag hanging around anymore. They did a wonderful job, I am not having any problems and I finally feel like I have my life back. My case was difficult and my GI doctor didn’t want to do my surgery nor did he think I should have it reversed. I couldn’t live with that so that’s what lead me to Dr Haas, he was confident that he could do it and even told me that if he couldn’t do it no one could. That sold me. I loved his confidence. I will forever be thankful to Dr Haas and the other surgeons that helped me.

I would like to start off by saying that five stars is not enough to capture and correctly express all that Dr. Haas and his team have done for me and my family. Throughout my entire journey, they have been understanding, kind and above all & most importantly, incredibly empathetic. Words undervalue and minimize what Dr. Haas and his team mean to me. I would like to say thank you to his team for always listening to my concerns and making an effort to communicate with me. You did an amazing job over the last 6 months. And lastly, I would like to thank Dr Haas. You have been and continue to be, nothing short of amazing. Thank you for not giving up on me and my situation, you absolutely changed my life. Thank you for your experience and attention to detail. And thank you for making me feel so safe and reassured through every step. My experience with you and your team has been more than I could have asked for.

Terrible practice management
If you value your time, please go elsewhere because Dr. Haas could care less. If he’s one hour late for appointments you’re lucky but being late two plus hours is normal. He may be a great surgeon but the practice is one of the worst in Houston

Best Surgeon
I decided to go with Dr. Haas for my diverticulitis surgery after doing a lot of research online and trying to find the best colorectal surgeon. I live in Austin, but it was well worth the drive to Houston to have Dr. Haas perform my surgery. It has been one week since I had surgery, and I can say that I am healing very well and do not have any complications post-surgery. In my opinion, he’s one of the best in his field. That is why his office is always busy with patients, both local and out of town patients such as myself. I highly recommend him!

Excellent Surgeon - Caring & Knowledgeable
Dr. Hass provided top notch care from the moment he reviewed my records and saw me for a consult the very next day. He was knowledgeable and professional and exceeded the high accolades from those who recommended him. I appreciated his straight-forward but caring manner when presenting options. He was responsive when I experienced post-op pain, managed it in the hospital and followed up during my recovery period. His NP, Virginia Alagugurusamy, is a perfect complement to him and was key in my treatment as well. The both took the time to answer my many questions and alleviated my fears about a major surgery and the prognosis. Their caring but knowledgeable approach made my experience with Houston Colon a positive one. Office staff needs improvement and were a constant source of frustration. Brittney Geistman, Office Coordinator intervened though, became my primary contact, & did the job of multiple people in the office. She deserves the same 5-star rating of Dr. Haas and Virginia.

Don’t expect Dr. Haas to care about your post op-situation. He lacks professionalism. Most of his office staff also lack professionalism. They will not respond to emails, calls and fail to follow through with test scheduling. In addition, your time is not valuable to this doctor. Extremely long wait times in office and even disrespectfully long waits via virtual visits. With other great surgeons in the area, there is no reason to accept this treatment.
