If you want a partner in health, go elsewhere
Two stars for Dr. Gabriela I. Sauder because she at least ordered the test I needed for my hip. No more because she refused to even go over the results with me, telling me through the patient portal that I needed to speak to the specialist about it (even though I did not have a specialist yet). And then when I requested a mammogram order from her through the patient portal so I could get one scheduled -- which was important given that my mammogram the previous year had come back as abnormal and I had to have follow-up tests for it -- she refused, saying that she only provides these during in-office visits. Even the nurse I was speaking with was shocked -- especially since the mammogram was also through the UCLA system. And then add her frenetic manner during our visit, and all that together makes her not the doctor for me. If you want a doctor who sees themselves as a partner in your care, I would not recommend her.

Uncaring
Telehealth
She is more worried about her personal liability than assisting patients. We asked for a form to be signed to get my mother the support she needed, she refused to put the minimally necessary language that is required by the state of California, and so we had to pay another doctor over $1000 for a house call to get the form. She blamed UCLA risk management, until I questioned her, then she admitted it was her choice. She chose not to support her patient and tried to blame others for that choice. Unprofessional and not n keeping with her Hippocratic Oath. Other doctors are concerned with their patients, she ignored my mom until she was hospitalized , then she wanted contact, seemingly only to cover her self once other doctors were involved, then quickly dropped her care again. Good riddance!

Why she is getting one good review is curious.
Telehealth
She seems to not care at all. We have had to call again and again. Home health care nurses coming in can’t get an answer or reply from her. When she makes a tele visit appt she’s usually very late sometimes an hour and then when she finally makes her appt she rushes you off the line.. sighs loudly while my 90 year old Mom w a brain condition is struggling to articulate to her re what’s she’s experiencing. Fails to reply on My Chart or when calling her office. Even when seeing her in person in the office, we waited four hours after our appt time and then was rushed through the appt at her office. If it wasn’t for my Moms very elder state, we would be going to any other doctor but this one.Indifferent in every way. Unbelievable how UCLA has gone downhill. It’s very sad and beyond frustrating.. it’s dangerous

Indifferent care
I looked at reviews before choosing this doctor and she got very good reviews. I don't know why. She was indifferent at our first meeting, dismissed many of my questions, and neither she nor her office staff ever get back to me so I had to chase appointments. Once when I called, I could not hear the receptionist and when I asked her to repeat herself, she was so nasty - talked to me in that overly-pronounciated way people talk to those they think are stupid or hard of hearing. For a geriatric clinic, I thought that was uncalled for. But the biggest disappointment was Dr. Sauder. I felt like just another number and that she had no interest in me as a person or patient. I'm going elsewhere!

Dr. Sauder is truly the best. I have to say I have never encountered a more patient, professional, and caring doctor. I was surprised by the amount of time she spent with us and her genuine compassion towards not only my mom but towards me too. If anyone is looking for a Geriatric Doctor you don’t need to look any further! Thanks to Thousand Oaks Senior Concerns for the recommendation.
