Very successful detached retina repair.
My husband was referred to Dr. Wyhinny as an emergency patient after the ophthalmologist diagnosed him with a detached retina. We were very anxious and frightened, but Dr. Wyhinny and his supportive staff spent quite a bit of time explaining my husband's diagnosis and surgical needs. Thanks to Dr. Wyhinny's superb surgical skills, my husband has 20/40 vision without eyeglasses. We are both profoundly grateful for his and his staff's patience, attentiveness and reassurance both before and after the surgery.

Excellent Opthalmologist!
Set your expectations: Dilation appts are long. Dr. Wyhinney has a high functioning and efficient staff though. You are kept moving through the steps of your visit from initial eye exam and pressure test to numbing and dilation drops to optical photos and finally to the exam with the doctor. Been seeing him for years! Highly recommend.

Great experience thru a tough time and A+ now!
I was diagnosed with retinal tears needing immediate attention. My optometrist recommended Dr. Wyhinny, who saw me within hours. That evening, I had my first of three cryotherapy treatments to secure my retina to the back wall of my eye. The procedures, while quite uncomfortable, were not unbearable. The following 12 hours were painful, but manageable. The pain level ( 8-9ish) did subside fairly quickly. I do highly recommend medication to stay ahead the pain. My wife and I did read some of other reviews and I was concerned as to whether I had made the right care choice. A separate retinal specialist confirmed that the treatment performed was excellent. Ahhh! That, coupled with an honest chat w/a Dr. Wyhinny staff, explaining his thoroughness, put any remaining concerns to rest. The staff is excellent, available, thoughtful, fun, entirely considerate and real. Meg, Leyla, Alina, Dr & all, thank you! When you're landing a plane in nasty weather, you want the best pilot, not a PR pro.

Very knowledgeable--he can get short at times but he's dealing mostly with older folks who can be trying. H e generall has a room full of patiemts so his time is pressed. He's down to earth when you talk to him and a caring individual.

he seemed to be distant for the reason I was seeing him for. He was talking in medical jargon and not being specific.

I waited six hours to see him to get a retina tear diagnosed and repaired. He was irritated, rude and impatient. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I had an emergency and no other options. Emergencies have to be the only reason why he sees any patients at all. Also, he rebuffed my questions on the latest laser technologies, which was probably a good thing for me because I wouldn't want a 70 year old working on my eye with a laser.
