Dr. Gloria Lan, MD

I was very concerned about getting the procedure knowing the cost (first procedure ever), and she did not seem encouraged at all to put my anxiety as rest about who I could talk to help understand the finances. Result of the endoscopy were inconclusive, and she pretty much wanted nothing else to do with me after that. No real empathy coming from a doctor that should want to help find the cause of life altering illness. Said she would connect with a new referral that I never received. Dismissive and unpersonal during telehealth call to share the result of procedure. I also woke up from my procedure with blood on my hospital bed sheets with no explanation. Very frustrated considering I was referred to her on the basis that she was very patient and understanding to her patients, but instead promoted only frustration and disappointment.

Dr. Lan performed an endoscopy and colonoscopy on me and made these procedures as easy and painless as possible. I expressed that previously I had extensive throat pain from scope and tube insertions. With her, I had zero irritation following the endoscopy. She was very kind, thoughtful, and listened to all my concerns. She put me at ease throughout the whole process. I highly recommend her to anyone seeing a GI physician.

She walked into the room with such positive energy that I felt immediately comfortable disclosing all my GI problems. She was thorough in asking me questions and answering all of my questions. I was recently hospitalized and Dr. Lan was the GI physician assigned to my case. I was thoroughly pleased with her. She was informative, polite and anwered all my questions. Even my husbands. I am now switching my GI physician with having her. In fact my husband is also changing over to her.

I met Dr.Lan during an emergency stay at Northwell SIUH. She explained my procedure and risks in terms I could understand. We followed up a few weeks later for a second procedure. During the consult, Dr. Lan listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions! She is a great doctor with a fantastic bedside manner. She is knowledgeable and genuine. Grateful she was on staff at Northwell during my stay.
