Dr. Figueroa was there when I needed him. For years I believed him to be the best psychiatrist in Flagstaff. In recent years, however, the quality of care his practice offers has declined markedly. I reluctantly attribute this to his age (now 72) and an office staff that takes advantage of it. His office staff interfered repeatedly with my care, countermanding his instructions (for example, that I call and speak to him if a new medication interacted with one of my established medications) and refusing to assist with technical issues during COVID19 virtual visits. Dr. Figueroa gradually lost the ability to deal with their interference. I know two other people who saw Dr. Figueroa (one at my recommendation) — they had similar experiences in the same timeframe. My current psychiatrist suggested that he might be jettisoning patients so he can retire. It pains me to write this, but I believe that anyone considering Dr. Figueroa for psychiatric care should take this into account.

Left on haliperidol and other high doses of anti psychotics for almost a year that altered my personality and lead to me almost committing suicide. Once these medications were discontinued, my personality, speech, and motor skill returned to almost normal. Shame on this doctor.

Dr. Figueroa is the first doctor that listens and has been able to help me. He truly cares about his patients. I came from Phoenix and never had a good experience with anyone. So glad my travls brought me to Flagstaff.

Seems to be a professional caring provider with a very rude unfriendly and uncaring office staff. Dr. Figueroa stated on very first visit if I ever had a question concerning my medications or treatment to please call and speak to him personally before making any changes. On the three occasions I needed to speak with him directly over the phone, his secretary Jen said I would have to make an appointment to come back to speak with him, she was rude and tried to talk over me. I would not go back!

Figueroa is a bad listener. For example, I tell him I wish to be a painter, and he gives me a ridiculous response that painting is enhancing my depression because I paint experiences that pain me. When I proceeded to tell him painting is therapeutic for me he'd just dismiss me. At the end of the appointment he said something along the lines of, "I see something going dark in you". Not something you should tell someone struggling with depression at the end of an appointment...

Dr. Figueroa is extremely knowledgable , patient and kind. His expertise crosses the spectrum of medical and psychological knowledge. His work with me has changed my life in a very rewarding and positive manner. I travel many miles to spend time with this doctor and every mile is worth the benefit that I receive from this man's caring and investment in me becoming a happier and more confident human being. I recommend him wholeheartedly.
