Appointments more important than human sensitivity
Very simply I contacted her office to see if an appointment was available. I described that I was in major pain and couldn't take pain killers because of other health issues. Rather than responding to my query regarding an appointment the scheduler had to review the fact that the office had a hundred referals a day and could only put me on a list according to date delivered. I emailed the scheduler reviewing my constant acute pain and rather that responding to me as a human being telling me that appointments were backed up for 4 months or more she reiterated the 'rules of the office' that she would get back to me when my number came up.I can only believe the only interest that Inspire Santa Fe Medical Group has is obtaining a full appointment schedule.Needless to say I will look for another rheumatologist, who has a more sensitive demeanor.

She cured me of polymyalgia. My other Dr. said I’d have it the rest of my life. Forever grateful to her.!! She’s also curing a relative of rheumatoid arthritis. No more signs of it on her hands!

These people are useless
I went in around November 2022 for chronic pain and suspected an autoimmune disorder because of family history. Dr. Norton barely looked at me and barely did an exam. I had to get some blood work done (at least she was thorough) and long story short, by Jan '23, they were very confused about where my lab results were. They asked me if the lab tech sent me my results directly (who does that? I have never had that happen in my life). Finally, they figure it out. They had them Feb but never called me to tell me. I did not get my lab results until mid-March. Dr. Poole met with me virtually 2 times and gave me my results. He ordered some X-rays. I even got a referral for an MRI. He says some completely unrelated NEW issue could be causing 20 years of pain. Insists that he can't rule it out. BUT I CAN because I LIVE IN MY BODY. Then they charge me almost $300 for what? a virtual test result appointment? This place is a nightmare.

Office Manager is a problem
Dr. Norton is great, but her office staff is not friendly. The office manager makes decisions unilaterally which are not patient centered, therefore patients are not given the quality care they deserve. The staff acts like they are afraid to say anything other than the rhetoric they were trained to say. It appears to be a hostile working environment to me.

Dr Norton and her staff
I have been a patient since 2013. Dr Norton has managed my RA very successfully. She explains everything in great detail and listens to any RA-related problems that I infrequently have. Her office staff is courteous and efficient. I can recommend Dr Norton without reservations what so ever.

As other reviews have noted, phone calls are not returned and the staff is extremely rude. I think it’s telling that the negative reviews far outweigh the positive ones on this and other websites. I was forgotten about and left sitting in an exam room for over an hour and a half while listening to the staff have lunch. When Dr. Norton breezed in she didn’t acknowledge that I had been kept waiting and didn’t even spend five minutes with me. One staff member dropped the ball on renewing my prescription; I had to purchase the drug for two months out of pocket, which cost me over $6,500. Prescriptions and orders for tests don’t always get transmitted and more than once I have had to physically go to the office to get a paper copy of the order. I have only continued to go there because Susan Barrett, CNP is caring and responsive. However, I recently had an interaction with some other staff members that was so unpleasant that most likely I will switch to another practice.

I love the way I'm treated at Dr. Norton's office. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Because Dr. Norton has Ankylosing Spondylitis as I do, she really understands my problem. She changed my treatment program and I'm doing much better. I was treated poorly by another Dr. so it's nice to have someone so kind and considerate.

No. I would NOT recommend. For an entire week, I have been trying to set up an appt. with this Dr., with no results. First, they are not open one or two days out of the week. When you call, there a voice mail telling you to leave your name, and they will call you back. Not true. They don't answer the phone, stating they are with a patient, or unavailable. Can't deal with this any longer, so I am going elsewhere, even if I have to go all the way from Santa Fe, to Albuquerque. What a nightmare having to deal with an office that is just not there for the patient, ever. If you have to go through this just for an appointment, I don't want to think about what it will be like in the office. I'd say very disorganized and/or short of staff.

Worst medical experience I have ever had! Not sure what the problem is, but I have been trying to get clarification on an MRI order since February 2020. She orders two and insurance will only pay for one . I want to know if that is enough or if Dr. Norton needs to talk with insurance company on why she wants two. It is now almost June and no one calls back when you leave a message. They didn’t call back even before the pandemic shut down happened. You always get a recording. I am an existing patient with good private insurance. I am moving on to another doctor that I can hopefully secure in Albuquerque which is further for me to drive. Do not go there if you want to avoid total frustration with their poor performance.

I have been seen by Dr. Norton's office for over three years now for my PSA. She and her staff are the best Doctors office that I work with. I have never had a problem with the office staff. I really have to wonder if the negative reviews are fake or people just like to complain.

Called the office and was told my Dr's order had to be reviewed and approved been trying to get into this office for months now for my chronic pain when speaking to receptionist I was told that they received my order but the manager has not viewed it yet and she had piles of orders she needed to get to and would call me back when I asked how long till I would receive a call she said I don't know all my manager said was she had a lot and don't know when she would be calling me back? Very unprofessional, I have worked in the medical field for years and for a doctor's office to say they have an overload of work and don't know when they would be calling you back is unacceptable!

Dr. Norton is not only personally incompetent but her staff is extremely rude. If you or a loved one are in need of a rheumatologist I would highly recommend seeking treatment at an academic medical center such as UNM. Her focus is not on patient care but more on reputation irregardless of the cost to her patients.

This doctor does not care first and foremost about her patients. She doesn't have time to see her patients because she's too busy receiving huge payments from drug companies. Look it up on ProPublica. She received over $450,000 in 2018 alone from different drug companies. That must be why she's too busy to spend time with her patients. I believe that she has gotten so greedy that she's in complete violation of the Hippocratic oath - rather than care for her patients - she's doing harm to them by assigning them to NP's. I'm lucky if I see her once a year now even though I'm on very dangerous, heavy hitting drugs. I spent the weekend in the hospital in critical condition because she neglected to pick something up in my blood work for months that should have been found! Do your due diligence and find a different doctor!

Disclaimer: After posting a negative review, I was called and questioned by an RN, and then they deleted my patient portal account that gave me access to my records. WTF.Dr. Norton was very nice, but the admin staff was not. They never answer the phone or return your phone calls. When I told the front desk receptionist and medical assistant about my frustration with not being able to get a hold of anyone, they did not care. Then, after posting a negative review, the RN called to to confront me about it. Now, my online access to my records has been deleted. Am I back in middle school? This is beyond unprofessional.
