Does Not Listen
Horrible experience. I’m fairly certain he didn’t listen to a single word I said; actively dismissing important and relevant information, insisting on a nonsensical root cause (COVID-19, my symptoms predate the pandemic by a decade), as well as suggesting interventions that were already being used. I’m use to having to advocate for myself to receive adequate healthcare as a woman, but this is hands down the most blatant disregard I’ve ever dealt with.

He explains everything. I was in pain for years until he diagnosed me. Other providers kept looking at me like I was crazy. Since ge has been treating my PSA I have been functional , able to work. Thank you!

Where it mostly started from... more than any of my MD's ever have in over my 27 yrs. Being ill. No joke. He wants to make u feel better and w the drs as they are now. Not to many give a darn they're just there to rush u out n thanks for ur money. Dr Aelion is not that way. Tell him all ur info leaving nothing out the more u tell him the more he can help. I will always appreciate him taking his time to see n tell me what he knows is true. Thank u Dr. Aelion

I'm Better
Basically been fighting with lower joint inflammation, severe pain, and foggy confused mindedness for a year. Finally it was determined I needed to see a Rheumatologist. I landed with Dr. Aelion, when I first saw him it took me almost 30 minutes to get from the truck into the clinic. He's quiet and reassuring but a little difficult to get a story out of. First visit we just did test. Second visit was made after I couldn't bare to be off steroids any longer. They said blood work was back and to come on in and we'd look at it. Everything was negative he looked concerned, he basically did a 25 point check and everything looked ok. Said bacteria infection was still a possibility and we could spend a few weeks determining or we could try this. I said try something. Within 2 days I was improving within a month I could climb stairs again and 1 months now, no drugs and I'm totally clear and I know what day it is. I think he got it in 2 visits and $1800. So I'm very happy.

Dr. Aelion read the medical papers that were forwarded to him (I was referred to him). He explained what my problem was & that there wasn't much that he could do except help relieve the pain (no cure as I had 3 previous back surgeries & probably no one else would). I also told him I didn't want to be dependent on pain pills like I have been taking. He did refer me to WT B&J for a nerve block ( that's another story so far - having problems there). I almost fell asleep in the main waiting area at The Arthritis Clinic (over 1 hr.).

First off the staff was forced to wear everything but body armor for fear of the evil covid. That cannot make for a pleasant work environment. Second, Dr. Aelion was rude from the beginning. Cocky, arrogant, and cranky. He immediately took issue with my not being covid vaccinated which is none of his business. Then he did not even ask questions or attempt to figure out my issue.

I have been a patient of Dr. Aleion since he was at UT Memphis nearly 30 years ago. I drive about 70 miles for his care. Prior to Dr. Aelion, I saw multiple Rheumatologist who were either incompetent or just did not care, before finding him. He literally saved my life by mitigating my intense pain from Ankylosing Spondylitis, which was so bad that I honestly considered suicide. He is a great doctor.

I have been under the care of Dr. Aelion for nearly 20 years. He stopped the progression of my RA by putting me on biologic meds. I have been in remission for many years. He and his staff are courteous and efficient. I'd recommend him to anyone with RA.

Beyond rude. Tossed my lab report on table and suggested I see a dermatologist. My PCP sent me to him because that lab report said my ANA test was positive and I have other symptoms of lupus. Why wouldn't he at least do his own test? He wouldn't even look at the sores in my ears & nose but said "it's probably psoriasis." Also said "if your hand was so swollen that we couldn't see your knuckles then we could say you have Lupus." He shouldn't be allowed to practice. He certainly didn't earn my $50

I used to see Dr Aelion, for 7 years in fact, because there were no other rheumatologists in my area. He treated me for 7 yrs for lupus, then took me off my lupus meds completely. I almost died. I changed doctors and now travel 3 hours away so that I see a good doctor. He is rude and inconsiderate. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Aelion is the rudest Doctor I have ever been too. After a couple of tests He told me my symptoms were the result of other meds that I was taking. Are you kidding me? He needs to retire and be replaced by a real Doctor. My arthritis had already been confirmed by other Doctors, but I thought maybe He could give me something for more relief. The sad thing about the whole clinic is that once you see one Dr. they won't let you change. It was a total waste of my time to go to him.
