A MRI showed I had a 4 cm acoustic neuroma. He went over everything and explained to me what they were going to do. Him & the his team of Doctors were really great. I had the surgery and it has healed so well that you can’t even tell I had surgery . Everything we really great.

Dr. Herzog needs to be closely monitored.
Approximately three years ago Herzog put a prosthesis in my left ear. This fell out within a year and was not seen by a CT scan. Considerable telephone calls to his office resulted in zero feedback until I contacted his supervisor. A second prothesis was installed about twelve months ago. This prosthesis was encapsulated by the left eardrum due to low pressure in the inner ear drum according to Herzog. A CT scan indicated the prosthesis was still inside the eardrum. My hearing in the left ear is down about 90 db at the low frequencies and does not get much better at the higher frequencies. Herzog recommended a stronger hearing aid, or a contraption surgically installed on the back of my head. He would not recommend removing the prosthesis that was encapsulated by the eardrum. His brash attitude, bragging that he had seen many of the situations similar to that of my second prothesis left me wary of him touching my ear. I will let Washington Univ. know of my dissatisfaction.

I was diagnosed with bi lateral Ménière’s disease 25 years ago in Los Angeles at the house institute. Through the years I’ve had multiple surgeries as the disease has progressed. I’ve been with Dr Herzog 17 years, I live in Scottsdale, Arizona. I travel 1500 miles because he’s well respected among his peers as a top surgeon and expert in the field. GREAT staff. Highly recommend Dr Herzog to anyone struggling with Ménière’s disease.

Best in his field
Dr. Herzog was the 4th ENT I saw for my herniated brain. None of the other doctors knew what was wrong with me, but Dr. Herzog knew the first time he saw me. He did an excellent job of taking care of my problem with his expertise in surgery and with each visit. He is very matter of fact and knows what he's doing. After almost a year of not knowing what was wrong with me, he took care of me. I appreciate everything Dr. Herzog and his staff did for me before, during and after my surgery. I felt I was in excellent hands and never worried. I highly recommend.

tympanoplasty
In 2018 i had a glomus tumor in my inner ear that caused me to hear a heart beating sound. I was reluctant to have surgery but was told that it could start pressing up against nerves etc. Long story short, this Doctor did the surgery to remove the glomus tumor and my life hasnt been the same since. i ended up with severe insomnia anxiety and depression after the surgery. i have constant ringing in both my ears now and have been on antidepressant meds since the surgery. he had to go through the skull behind my ear to get the tumor. i had no clue that this would be the outcome, i really thinking about further action into this matter.

Waste of time
I saw Dr. Herzog as a new patient. I waited over an hour and was his first patient of the day. As a new patient I expected he would spend some time looking at my previous imaging and discussing with me my concerns. Boy was I wrong. My 40 minute appointment (which he charged $350) for was no more than 7 minutes. I received no advice besides what I was already told by other MDs. I will not be back and will let others know how wrong I was treated.

Clearly wasting his valuable time
I have frequent ear infections & tubes would help temporarily, but my regular ENT thought I should see a specialist. Enter Dr. Herzog who came up with no other solution than tubes. I’ve been going to him several years now & recently lost a tube. I can hear fine RIGHT NOW, but inevitably I’ll get fluid in the ear & my hearing will be significantly muffled - I won’t be able to get in to him for weeks. I luckily got in quickly & his Fellow came in, pronounced my ear drum to completely healed and me to go on with my life because, “Doctors are too quick to put tubes in!” After I expressed my concern, he reluctantly went to Dr. Herzog who stomped in the room without acknowledging me & them roughly poked around in my ear. He then asked me how long I’d had tubes, like he’d never seen me. I noted that I’ve been coming to him for YEARS and he asked me how many tubes he’d put in! Really? You’re the one the records, you tell me! So I left with the promise he’ll get me in quickly!

Dr. Herzog did surgery to correct a spinal fluid leak from having tube installed in ear by another doctor. He corrected the issue and was quite professional. Surgery was successful. I have recommended him to others.

I am glad I found this site. I have been seeing Dr. Herzog since I developed significant hearing loss. The hearing aide I had purchased seemed to stop working, went in to check the hearing aide. They found nothing wrong with the hearing aide and then we proceeded to have a hearing test. We discovered I had profound hearing loss in one ear. Dr. Herzog met with me, reviewed the results and recommended a cochlear implant. His nurse came into explained the procedure and technology, I asked if she could estimate what my out pocket cost would be for the procedure, I provided all my insurance information to the nurse. 60 days later I had not heard anything, called back and asked them again. I has been over a year and a half, nothing. I my opinion, Dr. Herzog is pretty arrogant physician and is more interested in counting his money than listening to his patients.

He was a great doctor and did a good job at performing my surgery when I was younger up until my last visit about two years ago. I waited in the waiting room like over an hour an the visit wasn’t even 15 minutes long I felt like it was rushed more then it used to be and he just got me in and out and didn’t explain things like he usually did.

One of the worst doctor visits we’ve ever experienced. Were there almost 2 hours and he literally spent less than 5 minutes with us. Obviously, as parents we are beyond concerned as to why our daughter suddenly lost hearing in one ear. Two other doctors were very concerned and one ENT referred us to Herzog to get his opinion and help after telling us this is so rare in someone her age to have compounded hearing loss. Unfortunately, we woWe would not refer him to anyone. Extremely disappointi

I have been dealing with Menieres disease for the past year and I am so happy I was finally sent to Dr. Herzog by my primary doctor. I had surgery with him about 2 months ago and have not had any more dizzy spells. I feel like I finally have my life back!!!! I am even taking a trip with my husband in the fall! Going back for a check up in 3 months.

I was completely disappointed in my visit with Dr. Herzog. I had done quite a bit of research prior to my visit and had a good idea what my diagnosis was. Upon meeting with Dr. H, I was given no new information. His communication was unclear (I actually had to clarify if I had an actual diagnosis after he had left the examination room) and I was told nothing about the prognosis of my diagnosis. I spent a little over 5 minutes with Dr. H and was charged $400.

Cannot even begin to tell you the trust I have in Dr. Herzog. He has helped me through some extremely stressful situations and has always had a very calming effect. He cares about my concerns and answers all my questions. I have had two procedures - first a BAHA, and a year ago a Cochlear Implant. There is no pressure - procedures are your choice and all pros and cons are discussed before surgeries. Love Dr. Herzog!
