Poor experience
she kept leaving in the middle of my appointment for what seemed like personal calls. Not kidding, upwards of 10 times she left to angrily talk with someone on the phone. Facilties were not clean

Knowledgeable practitioner
I was struggling with anxiety issues and it was causing me difficulty at work. The doctor listened to my concerns and presented several options of medications. She went into detail explaining the pros and cons of each and gave me her recommendations. From there we worked out a plan which has not only made my life more manageable BUT happier overall. She introduced me to mindfulness meditation which was the missing link to my life. Extremely pleased!

More pain than healing
Dr Chann is a nice person. But a terrible psychiatrist. Every visit with her was an hour wait after the appointment time. She also just glossed over issues. cutting off mid sentence. I went in with an anti-depressant I was taking for only a week with my PCP. I had some side effects, so I went in to cover them with her. She basically wrote off my depression as me just not trying to make my life better. That I didn’t motivate myself and that’s why I was unhappy with my life. And if I actually tried I would. She’s a doctor in a mental health field and she couldn’t grasp depression. She just devalued it. Then she said the anti-depressant didn’t have the side effects I described (numbness in face), and I was probably just having anxiety or stress (I was neither at the time). After speaking to my PCP, another psychiatrist, and online medical sites, it clearly is a side effect of the anti-depressant. It’s one of the most common anti-depressants. That’s supposed to be something she knows.

Believe the 1 star ratings. I would give her zero stars if I could. Your time or opinion do not matter to Dr Chann. If you try to advocate for yourself, forget it. I don't know how Dr. Chann is still in business. She has very low ratings on every site.

The good? This doctor is very warm and friendly on the surface. The bad? Just about everything else. Her bottom line is your pocket book and padding her practice with so many patients to increase the amount she earns it should be a crime. Her time is so much more important than yours she over-schedules herself and you wait 45 min to over an hour for an appt you arrived on time for, then she spends all of 10 minutes with you; Completely disrespectful and unprofessional. She addicts you to unnecessary drugs and then cares little for the consequences and effects those substances have on your well-being. As long as you are a “good” patient that blindly trusts her judgment and can help pad her wallet she doesn’t care about much else. I was a patient of her from my late teens through my early 20’s and this woman harmed my life more than she helped through her lack of consideration and irresponsible prescribing of unnecessary drugs that worsened my already fragile health.

Very disappointed in her expertise. I suggest if you’re struggling with ADHD find another doctor to help you. She will not take you seriously and further your way into depression as well as adding you on medication you don’t need or want. Like I said I’m very disappointed in her, and I’m looking for another doctor as you read.

Dr. Chann is an amazing psychiatrist. She is caring and compassionate. I have been to many mental health providers who never explained the reasons for my behavior and any practical ways to manage. She provided me with tools to deal with problems and make an immediate change in my behaviors. I highly recommend this office.

Dr. Chann is a very nice person, but routinely an hour or more behind schedule. I had a great experience with her as long as I fully agreed with her. Once that changed, I found that she no longer seemed to even hear me, she assumed a lot, did not want to llsten to me at all when I disagreed and wanted to be honest with her. Once there was a breakdown in us agreeing, she discontinued my care. This in a great time of need. Because I was in danger of self harm and she didn't want to be responsible.

I waited an hour and 10minutes to be told if the wait was agitating me I should find another doctor. The doctor admitted she had trouble with her patient time-management. Plus the doctor stated she had no other treatment options to help me. I could have saved 90 minutes of my time but apparently my time is not important.

Dr. Chann is a lovely person, but my paranoid schizophrenic son's experience with her was very poor. The wait for appointments was often 1 to 1 1/2 hours in a small , full waiting room. By the time my son was seen each time, his anxiety level was extremely high and the whole experience left him quite paranoid! He had great difficulty hearing and understanding her accent. He did not want to continue seeing her and felt she did not really understand his illness. Diane Ellam Powell

Dr. Chann has been an extremely supportive ally as I battle depression and stay sober. Initially, her office got me in right away, because I was under time pressure. I needed help with medical leave so I could continue in rehab. Over the past few months, I've become more healthy with Dr. Chann's kindness and help. She spends a good amount of time with me compared to other psychiatrists. The valley doesn't have enough psychiatrists. Thus, the wait time- book before work. Also, the staff rocks!

I would advise all patients who are considering seeking mental health assistance to avoid Dr. Chann. Her staff is exceptionally incompetent as they regularly do not send prescriptions or send them to the wrong location. Additionally, Dr. Chann is NEVER on time with her appointments. Expect a 30-90 minute wait time always.

Dr. Chann exhibits very little compassion or sympathy for her patients. When expressing my feelings to her and asking for help to treat my symptoms she basically told me to suck it up and stop feeling sorry for myself. This response is unconscionable from a psychiatric care provider!
