Dr. Gangemi performed open heart surgery on my son at 7 days old. Also at 5 months old. I pray that we're lucky enough to have him perform his final stage of surgery. He was born with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome) where the left side of his hard was not developed. It was a very scary overwhelming experience but I give the most thanks and praise to Dr. Gangemi & his team. My son has had 0 complications with his condition and I highly reccomend Dr. Gangemi!

Dr Gangemi performed open heart surgery on my 4 month old. He was very knowledgable about her condition. He explained what needed to be done and what he was going to do for her specifically . You could tell that he and the staff communicated about my child's needs leading up to her surgery. They had a game plan. And he executed it! Her heart repair was done and we couldn't have asked for a better result. Oxygen levels have been 99-100% ever since.

Dr. Gangemi operated on my granddaughter for HLHS in May 2015 when she was 4 days old. Her second surgery was performed in November at 5 months. Lacy is doing well and we owe her life to Dr. Gangemi and the entire team at UVA. He is a very skilled surgeon and also great at communicating with parents and grandparents about the surgery he needs to perform. He is personable and honest about his concerns and expectations. I was so pleased with the time he spent with us answering questions!
