Dr. Jason Hochfelder, MD

BE CAREFUL!!!! Do not use the radiology center across the hall from Dr. Hochfelder ( which he and his office will encourage you to do before your appointment.) It is an internal referral scheme between Dr. Hochfelder and Phelps Hospital which owns that radiology office...I got charged $1500.00 JUST for the routine x-ray of my knee and after the insurance 'adjustment' I still owed more than $1.000.00. I tried 4 times to contact Dr. Hochfelder about this outrageous fee but he neglected to return my e-mails and phone calls.

Dr. Hochfelder is a skillful and wonderful surgeon. He is very likable and puts you at ease immediately. He has replaced my right hip and my two knees and I would recommend him to anyone who is considering hip or knee replacement. His office is efficient and the staff and very attentive. I recommend him 100%. Look no further than Dr. Hochfelder for your knee/hip replacement. You won’t be disappointed.

Dr. Hockfelder has been the most reliable orthopedic surgeon our family has ever used. My wife has undergone a number of hip and knee replacements/revisions due to RA, with most surgeons adamant about the necessity for surgery, even given my wife's immunocompromised status. Dr. Hockfelder has held the opinion that unless absolutely necessary, revision surgery presents relatively little benefit and high risk. His view of his patients is broader than most and takes into consideration the entire health history, rather than just the orthopedic issue. There are few surgeons that are willing to suggest not doing surgery when all things are considered, which puts Dr. Hockfelder in a class by himself. Our trust in his evaluations increases each time we see him, aside from his actual skill as a surgeon, which we also value highly. Surgery is not always the best alternative at every point in time, so the philosophy of "If it's not broken, Don't fix it" works for us.

I had total right knee replacement. Surgery was 7:30 AM, I was home by 4:30PM same day. Recovery was even better than I expected. I followed his directions for exercise, icing, relaxing, and pain medication. Walked without assistance by day three, drove after three weeks, have resumed regular activities, move nimbly and without pain, better than during the past five years. Thank you Dr. Hochfelder!!!

Dr. Hockfelder was very compassionate and quickly found the problem to fix it. I am well on the way to full recovery.

Dr. Jason Hochfelder is a very confident in what he says particularly when it came to his diagnosis in my case in needing a Total Knee Replacement. He exam the x-rays thoroughly to let me know exactly what needed to be done. He is definitely a very competent surgeon and I felt completely safe and at ease in his hands. I know that he is a very busy surgeon, but wish he could take out a little extra time just talking. What I did appreciate before having the surgery at his office, he allow my adult children have a conference call so they could ask questions about having the surgery since they couldn't be in person because of the pandemic. So all in all he is a outstanding surgeon and I was happy to have him as my surgeon.

Dr. Hochfelder was very clear and confident in his diagnosis of the necessity of hip replacement in my situation. I was very impressed with his patience and clarity in answering every one of my many questions. His professionalism and expertise put me at ease. I have gone from walking with some degree of pain in virtually every step, to walking without any discomfort and being able to do most anything I did before. I couldn’t be more pleased with the result or with Dr. Hochfelder.
