Simply amazing
He spent honest time sitting with my mom and going over her extensive history and coming up with a plan she agreed on. That plan ended up saving her life. He is literally an amazing doctor. Very kind and listens to you. Wonderful doctor.

Exceptional care
Dr Askew is exceptional. I’ve been to at least a hundred doctors in my 74 years if not more and he is the only doctor I have ever felt like he PERSONALLY cared about my health. He spends upwards of 45 mins to an hour (initial visit) getting to know you, your lifestyle and formulating a plan to care for all your health needs. I’ve honestly never met a physician like Dr Askew before, just so relaxed and never rushed, he takes his time yet I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes for my appts. Staff is equally exceptional and very responsive on their Portal, almost always the same day. He is difficult to get an appt with due to his popularity but once you are in, you are in.

Dr Askew is understanding, kind and exhibits a great deal of patience. He listens and is willing to go that extra step to ensure that you have a greater understanding of your condition. When you depart his presence your comfort level has been elevated. His staff including his PA and nurses are to be commended on the professionalism and caring attitude. My trust is there with them and they are highly recommended. Thank you.

At the first appointment, he seemed very concerned. He immediately wanted to do a heart cath. I was a bit concerned about the invasive orocedure but I went ahead and scheduled it. I called the next week because I had a few questions and his off e told me he would not talk to me BEFORE the heart cath, only AFTER, because he spent an hour with me the first visit! So, in other words, I was not allowed to ask any questions until after my procedure, what? Also, I had a cardiac mri done at Inova because he did not feel it was a good idea which we had to pay out of pocket. Brought in the mri and cd for him to look at and never heard from him. Needless to say, I have another cardiologist.

In a word, Excellent. Dr Askew is patient, personable and takes time to explain everything. He doesn’t push you off to other specialists without trying to get to the bottom of things. You would be wasting your time trying to find a better cardiologist. I rarely ever leave reviews for any business / physician but I would be remiss if I did not leave the absolute best review for Dr Askew. He your absolute best choice for a cardiologist!

worst service I have ever had, tried to change an appointment that is almost impossible...the receptionist was the rudest woman I have talked to in a long time. I was told someone would call me back she says they don't do that they just cancel the appointments.

Dr Askew was great when I saw him. It took two and a half months to get the results from the tests he ordered. My follow up appointment was with a PA who had not bothered to look at my file before my appointment. She acted like a high school health student who did not do her homework and stumbled over everything. I still do not know the results of my test 4 months later. I even had to wait almost an hour after my appointment before she saw me.

Dr Askew is a top notch cardiologist! He is a great listener and he explains things in great detail. I definitely recommend him for your cardiology needs. The only issue is the office staff; it is difficult to get someone on the phone without having to be on hold for 30 minutes or have someone hang up on you.

He is a very caring and knowledgable doctor. I am a young, pregnant woman with newly diagnosed POTS. I am so grateful that he was able to diagnose me and develop a treatment plan for me after one round of testing. My mom went with me to the appointment and we left raving about how much we liked him and how great of a doctor he is. I will be going back to him for all of my cardiology needs!

We've never met a doctor like Dr. Askew! We were in a health crisis, just a week before Christmas. We needed help and Dr. Askew was recommended to us. WOW! He really was a life saver! My husband felt like he was drowning in a new diagnosis of heart disease from a heart scan with a calcium score - which was nearly off the charts. Long story short - he agreed to see my husband & spent so much time with him. Just saw him for follow up. He was amazed at husband's progress, but he set the bar for him

Dr. Askew took ample time to carefully review my medical history and test results. Then he explained in layman's terms what I was facing. He conveyed the seriousness of my situation without being alarmist. He outlined a treatment plan that left me feeling like I still had some control--and responsibility for--my own destiny. I would not hesitate to recommend this physician to any family member or friend.

I was very sick and very frightened when I first met Dr Askew at Mary Washington Hospital where I had been admitted for a variety of health issues. The primary concern was a growth on my tricuspid heart valve which was surgically repaired. Dr. Askew's warmth and genuine concern for my well being as well as his intelligence and professional manner soon calmed my fears and inspired my great confidence in the decisions he made for treatment. He and his team did a great job. Saved my life.
