Broken Trust
Dr. Welder and I had a pleasant relationship for many years. At 65, and now a hospice patient, Dr. Welder recently broke my trust and has lost my respect (I so wish I could state otherwise). Note: Throughout my entire personal and professional life, I have consistently been a respectful, measured person... exceedingly willing to extend grace and overlook infractions, however I cannot do so this time. Even the few clinic employees my wife and I spoke with afterwards (who had knowledge of the events that I would describe as a game of charades) expressed that they too felt equally hurt, betrayed, dismayed, angered, and deeply disappointed. What type of person would subject a dying person to such an ordeal, especially when the matter could have been easily resolved in a conversation of less than 2 minutes? As I mentioned, I'm an extremely patient man, but I cannot condone, nor will I tolerate the unacceptable.
