Welcome the the US healthcare system, where few still practice medicine and most have such a narrow scope of practice they are merely a maitre d' to a specialist. This physician exemplifies both of these symptoms of our broken system. During the visit she connected drug seeking behavior with requesting antibiotics and thinks a single course of antibiotics will lead to drug resistant bacteria. She practices physician centered care and if you deviate from that you will need someone else. Dont worry though, she will check the box on the referral to make it a priority. Find someone else and i would stay away from the physician mill of UCSD.
