I Would Not Recommend Dr. Kelly
I would absolutely NOT recommend Dr. Kelly. I was a new patient of his and when I questioned the schedule of my shot for osteoporosis, I was met with a great deal of resistance by the staff and the doctor. I have NEVER encountered a doctor who was so unwilling to answer a patient's questions. Subsequently, I received a very curt letter from the office dropping me as a patient. I guess this practice cannot, or does not, want to deal with a patient's questions. Unfortunately, I have concluded that Dr. Kelly is arrogant and defensive. Feel free to respond to me directly.

Not treated for over a decade properly
I saw Dr Kelly for about 12 years. I now have full blown osteoporosis at a young age due to steroids provided. I was NEVER offered a medicine on the market since 1960s which when going to a new Rhemu literally cured most of my pain and issues and got me off of biologicals. I got mri and found my back pain was not just arthritis but herniated disks and pinching nerves and out of alignment and needed surgery which I finally got thanks to my new dr. If I had known how bad I was I could have avoided all this pain for 12 years plus prior.I also now get knee injections so I can walk without pain at my new DR. All I got from Kelly were steroids and pills which did nothing! When I asked and begged on what I could do I was told nothing!Disappointed does not begin to describe how I feelNow I start osteoporosis meds thanks to being fed so much steroids. Wish I never went to him.

Knowledgeable, caring, took his time
I found Dr. Kelly to be extremely knowledgable. He looked you in the eye and listened carefully, then he provided clear explanations about treatment options. Exactly what I look for in a doctor!

Waited to Years to Become a Patient
I have a rare autoimmune disease and Rheumatologists act more like primary care doctors for those with this disease. Other respected Sarasota doctors referred me to Dr. Kelley due to his expertise and my disease. After waiting over 2 years I was allowed to become his patient and I saw him 3 time in the last 1.5 years. He never seemed to like me even though I was thrilled to finally be his patient and confident I was in good hands. I was shocked by his rude and callous manner and responses to my questions and concerns. Never once did he examine me. At the last visit I tried to show him a painful ulcer on my finger. He refused to look and remained seated across the room. The next day I received a call from his nurse letting me know he would no longer be my doctor and then I receive the same message in a certified letter. He is not just a horrible doctor but a terrible person. I have never been fired by a doctor! I can't imagine how anyone would like him!

My Mother was in ICU and on a ventilator after a reaction to a COVID vaccine and I was waiting for my appointment with Dr Kelley and received an urgent call from the hospital and told the nurse I had to take the call and why. Dr Kelley told me I used my allotted time for my appointment on the call. I find him inconsiderate, lacking empathy, and if it were his parent I wonder how he would feel being treated so dismissively. I fired him and today received a letter, certified, to find another doctor. Gladly!!

Dr. K is patient, listens to the individual sitting with him, thoughtful and considerate, and considers the least harmful but most progressive method of treatment applicable. It was happenstance I ended up at his office nearly a decade ago, but I wouldn’t consider switching. Highly recommend to anyone seeking rheumatologic care.

Dr. Kelley is one of the most empathetic, kind and reassuring physicians I have ever met. He listens, is open-minded and provides a treatment plan that both he and the patient agrees upon. He spends as much time with you as you need and is always accessible.

I've been Dr. Kelley for eight years. He treats me for rheumatoid arthritis. He is on top of my medications and orders lab work religiously. I take medication that needs to be preauthorized and has also arranged for me to get financial assistance with copays. I've changed insurance companies so I can stay under his care.

This doctor couldn't care less about helping patients. After waiting for almost a YEAR to get in with him, he wasted my time and money on three different visits without ever examining me, getting labs, or even recommending any kind of treatment for my SLE that I have had for nearly 10 years. Then, I get severely ill, miss ONE appointment, and he discharges me as a patient!?!! Thanks to this, I ended up in the hospital just a few months later with stage 3 lupus nephritis bc of my unmanaged SLE

Very unprofessional and inconsiderate. After spending weeks getting my record sent to Dr Kelly from my Rheumatologist in PITTSBURGH as the office instructed, I called to set up my appointment today and learned the Doctor would not accept me. I have rheumatoid arthritis and spend 6 months a year here in Sarasota. When I asked why, the nice office staff said the Doctor doesn’t give us reasons. Kelly referred to me by my local orthopedic surgeon. I urge anyone avoid his care.

I've been a patient of Dr Kelley's for 7 years. He has has helped me to understand my condition and as it has gotten worse, he has changed my medication when needed. At one point, he put me on a new medication, that just wasn't working. I called the office and within the day, they had called in a new prescription for me! The staff has been working with my insurance, to get a specialty drug approved. With Dr Kelley's note to them, insurance went ahead and approved it.

I am shocked by some of the negative reviews. I have seen this physician for the past 3 years & he has always been thorough in his exam & an excellent listener. Dr. Kelley is an excellent diagnostician & I have never felt rushed while he answers all of my questions. He & his staff have also gone out of their way to try to secure medications that are difficult to obtain due to insurance regulations. As an RN, I highly recommend this physician.

Dr Kelley's office staff committed a clerical error on my file. They refused to resolve the issue--making me pay for an office visit TWICE. Upon my paying of the bill a second time, Dr Kelley decided to discharge me as a patient---apparently he thinks we should not complain when a physician office steals our money. I am filing a formal complaint against him, as I have a life-threatening illness that requires I be followed by a rheumatologist--and there are few available in this area.

Discharged my wife as a patient over a 42.00 lab Bill. Pretty sad when doctors only care about money. My wife was dependent on dr kelley and has been a patient for years. We have insurance and always pay our Bill at time of service but there was a misunderstanding with the lab Bill and it slipped through the cracks. We owed 10 dollars to kelley and he discharged her?? I guess he sleeps well.
