Lifesaver and makes you feel like family
I was a patient of Dr. Jane’s for 18 of the 21 years I have been on planet earth. When Dr. Jane left UVA it was like a death of a family member because of the positive impact he left on me and my family. He installed a VP shunt on me when I was about 4 because I had a cyst that enveloped 40% of my brain at the time. Now that cyst practically doesn’t impact me and is only at about 10% of my brain. Dr. Jane also had some of the best nurses such as Sarah Roberts. I remember one time I was in the hospital over Christmas and he made a special trip to come and visit me, just to show you how much he cares about his patients. Another story was when I had my surgery in Kindergarten he dressed up my stuffed animal like a nurse. There is no better Doctor in the world than Doctor John Jr. I recommend him and would trust my life and my children’s lives in his hands.

Dr Jane has been my sons neurosurgeon for 8.5 years and has performed 2 transsphenoidal surgeries on his craniopharyngioma. I cannot say enough about how wonderful and caring this man (and his team!) is! He constantly kept us updated throughout surgery. Quickly responded to email and phone questions. And even consulted for us for a few years when we moved out of state. We are so blessed to have this doctor close by! When my son had surgery for a different tumor he even stopped to check on him!

Dr. Jane is one in a million. He performed a cranioplasty on my four year old daughter and kept us updated during the entire surgery and reassured us that things were going as planned. He is someone that genuinely cares and I appreciated that more than you know!

Dr John Jane, Jr. Is as good as they get. Truly, I cannot imagine a better doctor on Earth. He is patient, honest & humble. We vetted many, many neurosurgeons before deciding on him & we've had no regrets. An extraordinarily skilled and sincerely loving doctor -- hard to find these days!

Dr. John Jane, Jr performed emergency surgery (Eyebrow Craniotomy, and Third Ventriculostomy) in 2014 to relieve a hydrocephalus condition by creating a drainage path for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) being blocked by a tumor located in the pineal region of my brain. I am thankful to have had a skilled physician with the knowledge and expertise required to successfully perform this delicate operation. I was flown to UVA Medical Center via helicopter, and am grateful Dr. Jane, Jr was in attendance.

I've been suffering from headaches due to multiple brain injuries for several years. Dr. Jane dismissed the headaches as practically nothing, saying I needed to see a headache specialist to have them evalauted. Do not trust what MRI's says because they aren't accurate.
