When I first went to the ER for pain & suspected appendicitis, I was told by the dr that it might be the passing of an ovarian cyst or UTI. I have had both & insisted this was not the case. Still in pain, my mother had to ask the doctor to humor her and run a scan anyways to rule appendicitis out - since my dad & brother experienced a similar situation. Dr came back w results that it was appendicitis. Dr wanted to send me home with antibiotics. When my mother insisted in exploring other options i.e. appendectomy, the dr insisted we try antibiotics. My mom explained that we’ve been through this before with sending my father home with antibiotics where he later needed to have emergency surgery done for peritonitis & almost lost him. Dr still insisted to take antibiotics and we will cut tomorrow if things aren’t better (it was 8am). For my safety, we discharged ourselves, drove 2.5 hours to our home hospital & got the appendectomy. Said it was already bursting. Imagine if I listened to Dr
