Dr. John Ijem, MD

Not very good

Went to a visit to discuss the possibility of having p.o.t.s and he stated “P.O.T.S is only for old people”, a false misconception that I don’t think a doctor should be making. I was however eventually diagnosed with P.O.T.S by another out of state doctor without help from Dr. Ljem.

I was diagnosed with POTS by 2 other doctors. I saw Dr. Ijem and he told me because I looked young and healthy I couldn’t possibly have autonomic dysfunction. He said only older people with comorbid diseases like Sjorens or others were the only cause for POTS. Dr. Ijem either needs to do a bit more research or not base diagnosis simply off physical appearance. I’ve lost 120 lbs. I pass out frequently. I have a paralyzed stomach. I told him all of this and he told me to cut out my caffeine, which I have done and tried multiple times. I waited months to get into this appointment just to be told he didn’t believe what two other doctors have tested and diagnosed me with. If you are knocking on death’s door in illness or age, he won’t take you seriously.

Three visits thus far getting established with a new practice. All staff and the doctor were very friendly, attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend this practice.

Dr lijem possibly saved my life. I had a heart rate of 150 and with a combination of medications he brought it down to less than 100. He was very concerned about my condition and did everything medically possible to keep me safe. He will be my cardiologist for the rest of my life.

I love Dr. Ijem!!! I stopped into the emergency room in Murrells Inlet, SC after teaching all day and told them I believed I had an upper lung infection. Dr. Ijem discovered three arteries blocked and saved my life. I will forever be grateful for this kind and caring doctor. Very little follow through on things. Staff consistently making mistakes. Would NOT recommend this doctor or anyone in this practice.

Took the time to listen, caring, thorough and communicated well - I would recommend him in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Excellent doc

Horrible bedside manner. No Patience!!!! And to boot made fun of Americans who are nervous patients. Arrogant and not someone I would recommend to anyone. So very full of himself!
