Dr. Jonathan Kaplan, MD

Been through many podiatrists before Dr Kaplan with little to no improvement in my situation. Dr Kaplan got me back on my feet in less than a year when others failed to do so in 2/3 times that long. Brilliant surgeon and very grateful for his skilled hands. Thanks Dr Kaplan.

I should have writing this review earlier, but my life got a bit busy after my surgery. I want to make sure that you consider Dr. Jonathan Kaplan MD. and his team at Orthopaedic Specialty Institute for any problem relating to the foot. After a year of debating if I should get the surgery, I learned about Dr. Kaplan from my boyfriend. He recently had his Achilles tendon repair. His surgery went so well that I decided to see Dr. Kaplan remove a small cyst on my middle toe. I can't express how happy I'm for having the surgery done by Dr. Kaplan.

Diagnosis-Broken Heel. I got referred from Hoag emergency room to their specialist, nice guy, decent office staff, but didn't get the feeling I was important, more like I was number to them. Got a 2nd opinion from Dr Kaplan, diagnosis the same, surgery method different. Hoag had an older method that would require more stitches and involved going around a nerve. Dr Kaplan was up to date on the more current procedure, less stitches and no nerve. You could tell that OSI had doctors that have been and will be there for life and treat the patients like humans. Dr Kaplan's staff was awesome from the casting room to scheduling to assistance with prescriptions and billing. The most important things is that Dr Kaplan's surgery went great, no complications. I am now fully healed and working to get back to normal life via physical therapy. Side note - CORE (Center of Rehab Excellence) in HB is amazing, I highly recommend them when you are able to go. Kaplan and his team are the best.

Ruptured left Achilles on 8/28/2019. Consulted Dr. Kaplan on date of rupture with regard to options and had surgery on 9/4/2019. Dr. Kaplan was very clear about options, has great perspective on matching options and progress to fit my needs and active lifestyle. Did excellent job on surgery with minimal evasiveness and scarring. Tailored recovery plan to my short- and long-term needs; was able to stay active and not miss out on Cancun trip less than two months after surgery. Dr. Kaplan and staff have been excellent with follow-up ever since. Even provided great referral to colleague Dr. Shepard to help with ongoing shoulder issues. Both doctors should be on top of list for Orthopaedic surgery needs for those in OC.

I had a full rupture of my right achilles. Dr. Kaplan performed surgery to repair my right achilles. At this point, I am almost 8 months post surgery. I am back to running and exercising with no pain and I am well on my way back to being 100% again. I’m thankful to Dr. Kaplan and the team at Orthopaedic Specialty Institute. I would gladly recommend them to my friends and family.

Always on time, great communication, sets a plan and follows through. Looking forward to getting back in hi-heels!

Dr. Kaplan came highly recommended and certainly deserves this stellar reputation. He instills confidence backed by his expertise in his specialized field. My recovery has been slow -- which he explained at the outset -- and he's been there every step of the way. I am totally pain-free at the injury site. His staff at the Irvine Office are simply the best!

Dr Kaplan performed surgery on my Achilles’ tendon and also remove a bone spur from my heel . Dr Kaplan was very informative and explained everything in detail. He and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr Kaplan!

Dr. Kaplan and his team were excellent. He was always prepared for our visits. He went over my xrays with me to explain what was happening with my ankle and what he could do to help me. He explained the ankle surgery to me, after we had tried shots to no avail. He told me to let him know when I was ready for surgery. When I could no longer walk without a walker or cane, we decided to proceed. After surgery there was rehab and PT, in 3-4 months I was walking pain feel. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Kaplan and his team of professionals that made this happen. I found him to be very knowledgeable with great credditals. Very impressive. If one of my kids needed his expertise I would definitely insist that they see him.

Dr. Kaplan was referred to me from a friend and I'm so thankful for that referral. I can't say enough about his practice and surgery techniques. I was looking for a non evasive procedure for my bunion. I read all of his reviews and I would have to agree with all of them except the one person who did not have success. No surgery is perfect or a predictable outcome. You have to go into it with an open mind and trust your doctor. As far as his staff, they were exceptional too. I attended nearly a dozen office visits before and after surgery, and there was never one time when I was not treated well and with extreme professionalism. Highly Recommend this Physician!

Dr. Kaplan and his staff are absolutely the best! After a thorough evaluation of the problem, he explains the different options available and the best way to proceed. His staff is always available to answer any concerns one may have. One is always greeted with smiles and kindness!

I have been a patient of Dr. Kaplan for the past 3 years, and have received the best care. He performed my Achilles Tendon repair and took great care of me through my recovery and follow up. He also recommended and performed my tendon revision which made it possible to correct my drop foot. I no longer drag my foot. He has been my savior for the past 3 years and hate the fact that I won’t have a need to see him for follow up anymore. But I will drop by to say hi. I highly recommend him and his expertise. I give him a a 5 star rating and then some. He is the best.

Thought Dr. Kaplan was wondering wonderful. Am waiting to do my other foot. Could not have had a better experience.

Very efficient visit

I broke four bones in and around my left ankle one year ago. I also tore tendons and ligaments in my left leg. In discussing the serious nature of my injury Dr. Kaplan was very positive and very clear about what the path for a complete recovery was. I appreciated the fact he was very straight forward with me but also highly upbeat and optimistic about how he expected me to make a full recovery. After my ankle surgery he advised me that the operation went very well. He added that if I followed instructions for recovery and adhered to a strict physical therapy regimen the ankle would heal and could be expected to be strong and as functional as it was before the injury occurred. Dr. Kaplan and his staff at OSI are world class professionals who are truly there for their patients. A year has passed since my injury and operation and I am back to full strength and mobility. I thank Dr. Kaplan and his wonderful staff for my healing and complete recovery.

Dr. Kaplan is full of energy to do his best for each patient. He performed my ankle reconstruction and had a 6 page description of what to do and when to do it for my Physical Therapist. He is precise and detailed. He also is good at compromising difficult situations such as using a splint instead of casting and was smart to recommend I use the VACOped boot which made a world of difference in my healing progression. I loved how eager and willing he is to get his patients better and he is a no nonsense doctor. I would use him again and recommend him highly!

I am so happy I met Dr. Kaplan! Having reached out to several doctors and being misdiagnosed with my Achilles problem, Dr. Kaplan knew exactly what was causing my pain, and felt confident he could help me. Having somewhat of a medical background, I was immediately impressed that he was able to quickly create a sense of confidence. I knew that if he was confident, I could place my trust in him. Of course, I first researched his education, and experience and felt he was more than qualified. He told me exactly what to expect, and it was exactly like he said. It wasn’t easy, but he solved my problem! I am very grateful that I can walk free of pain! I would definitely recommend him, and his office is so attentive and easy to reach. Made a very sensitive surgery very manageable, and the post op care was followed very closely by Dr. Kaplan and his staff.

I fell off a ladder, had a grade 4 heel fracture. Met with Dr Kaplan, and had surgery which required 9 screws and a plate. Dr Kaplan will take time to answer all your questions about surgery and recovery. Office staff is fantastic. I was very happy with Dr Kaplan and the results from the surgery. This is a type of injury that takes time to recover from, with a lot of PT. I also had Dr Kaplan remove the hardware after I was recovered. Would I use Dr Kaplan again if injured, easy answer YES.
