My father was in the care of Dr Kaufman, but Dr Kaufman did not see him in person while in the hospital for nearly 3 weeks. My father was given too many fluids, then quickly dehydrated until he was skin and bones. Within 3 weeks, my father was a just a body. Dr. Kaufman took too long to suggest a feeding tube, he did not communicate well with the on call doctors or with us. I thought my father was in the best care, but he was not. He was just a number, a statistic that need X amount of chemos before being even offered the one thing that could save him. A woman died days after my father and she underwent similar situations. He did give us a call after because we had questions but it was pointless and he had no useful information the entire 4 weeks we were there. We are heartbroken. My fathers cancer did seem to be aggressive but he deserved more respect than what he was given in the last weeks of his life.

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in February 2018. I thought my days were numbered. Dr. Kaufman, in my first meeting, assured me that I had a very good chance of living many years with treatments and a stem cell transplant under his care. The subsequent treatments and transplant were very difficult, but now eight months later I’m in a deep remission and my life is returning to normal. There are still hills to climb. But all things considered I’m so thankful for where I am. Dr. Kaufman and
