I had surgery in April 30th, 2024. The surgery went well. Unfortunately, he went on vacation for two weeks. Whoever is covering for him does not return çalls. There was a problem the day after surgery that I needed help with my care. I have been forced to care for myself the best that I can. I would not recommend anyone in this practice. I will not be using their PT office.

IMO flawless surgical execution
For years I was told by other doctors and PTs to just stretch and that I would be fine. Was later told I would never run multiple miles or a marathon due to lack of ankle mobility. My calf pain eventually got so bad that I couldn't run 1/4 mile or walk up steep hills, and had to pretty much give up hiking and most activities. I then saw Dr. Packer as a final attempt to cure my chronic pain, and he worked quickly to form the rare diagnosis of chronic exertional compartment syndrome bilateral. Testing was thorough and painful as warned but I was a strong candidate for surgery. Dr. P explained the risks of the surgery and was clear that I should have the surgery if I wanted to feel better. Remember what I said about giving up hiking and activities? Guess who is now hiking up steep 14k ft mountains in Colorado - thank you Dr. Packer

Definitely will tell all my friends
Saw Dr. Packer on 10/30/2023 for having Patella right knee pain. Lumping for three months had MRI and was reviewed by him. He saw I have a fracture on the inner knee bone and explained to me my options. I had a injection in the knee and was given a better patella knee support to bowl in. Dr. Packer is a very kind person and listen to his patience and the staff was very good to me. We chat for a few minutes I highly recommend him for your Orthopedic needs.

Honest, Personable, and Knowledgeable Surgeon
I suffered a pretty gnarly meniscus tear from a Jiu-Jitsu mishap. Dr. Packer was measured and honest, communicating in clear, concise, and understandable terms exactly what his prognosis and treatment plan entailed. He was measured in his care, only opting for surgery after performing a thorough assessment, gathering a vast history, and exhausting all other options. Before the surgery, he clearly explained what the procedure included. After the surgery, he explained the intensive physical therapy regimen, and printed it out so that I could provide clear direction to my physical therapy team. Dr. Packer followed me through each milestone of my recovery, answering every question I presented with clarity and brevity. Of particular note, he looked me in the eye and spoke directly to me during each conversation, instead of being distracted by an open computer screen. I would recommend this surgeon and care-team to anyone who needs him. Look no further for a top-tier surgeon and leader.

Dr. Packer helped me after others dismissed me
TL:DR - Dr. Packer took me seriously, made a hard decision while performing surgery on me, and gave me back my active lifestyle. I'm a very active 38 year old woman, and I had a nagging torn meniscus. Two other ortho doctors had dismissed my situation saying my hip to knee ratio means unavoidable progressive knee problems as I age. After having run marathons and being able to back-squat my body weight (always with this hip/knee angle), I was told I "just shouldn't run or squat anymore". Dr. Packer was my third attempt . He took me seriously, believed me when I insisted it was an acute injury. During the surgery in March '22, he made the hard decision to repair my meniscus instead of just scraping it out, which meant 6 weeks crutches and 6 months of recovery. He knew it would extend my active lifestyle and he took the "whole me" into account. Less than a year later, I'm so happy he made this decision. Guess who's running and squatting again.

Dr. Packer is a highly qualified Orthopedic Surgeon that knows his craft. He treated me for a shoulder injury. He took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. He was very professional and the took time to explain my injury, the diagnostic results and the surgical procedure needed to resolve my shoulder issue. The surgery was a success. Doctor Packer’s staff are all welcoming and friendly. If you need an Orthopedic Surgeon he’s one of the best on the market. If I could give him 6 stars I would. I highly recommend him if you have an orthopedic concern.

After being referred to a number of doctors because I had a difficult to treat problem, I was finally referred to Dr. Packer. Dr. Packer developed a treatment plan for me, believed me that my pain was where I said it was (and what I said it was), was honest about what outcomes he expected, and adjusted the treatment plan when my surgery was delayed by more than a year for other health reasons. After the procedure, my quality of life is improved, my pain is significantly reduced (sometimes it's completely gone!), and I finally feel like myself again after more than five years of reduced mobility & daily pain I'm super happy with his care, concern, empathy, professionalism, and surgical expertise. But what really stands out is that Dr. Packer wanted to help me as a person - not just imaging scans, broken bones, or orthopedic issues...and I think that's one of the most important qualities of a doctor.

Dr. Packer is an amazing doctor and surgeon. After a bad injury of meniscus and acl damage, he was willing to sacrifice extra time in the operating room to make sure I leave better than I came. For the last 2 years he has been instrumental in my healing and overall health. He is a doctor I will always appreciate!

I had the misfortune of injuring my knee and was recommended to see Dr. Jonathan Packer to obtain an opinion form an Orthopedic surgeon. My first visit was was straight-forward and he explained my injury and what I needed to repair my knee. My surgery went well and I am very pleased with the outcome. He cares about my healing and my recovery. Dr. Packer is still following me and I trust him explicitly. He is very caring, knowledgeable and sensitive to his patients. He takes time to find out how I am doing and allows me time to ask questions and share my healing experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Packer to family, friends, and anyone who is in need of an Orthopedic surgeon.

I had a serious ski accident February 2017, my upper extremity surgeon recommended Dr. Packer for my torn ACL. I quickly felt at ease after the consultation, very thorough, explained my options and answered my questions which really helped calm my nerves. My ACL hamstring graft surgery took place December 2017, Dr. Packer provided excellent care pre/post-op appointments. My last follow up appointment was December 2018 and back skiing January 2019! I would definitely recommend Dr. Packer!

I saw Dr. Packer for two different injuries, one I was able to heal without surgery and then for an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. Dr. Packer listened to my concerns and focused on getting me back as quick and safe as possible. I have already recommended Dr. Packer to friends and coworkers and will continue. His staff at Camden, Timonium and Columbia were all professional, kind, and quick.

Wow where do I began. I could write a book about my ENTIRE experience and recovery process. I torn my meniscus February 22,2017. He reconstructed my ACL. I had 2 knee surgeries with him so far and headed for #3 soon. I have had one of THE WORSE torn meniscus he ever seen plus my knee is one of a kind. My knee likes to build scar tissue EXTREMELY FAST . My first operation was 8.5 hours very successful one. He's very knowledgeable, caring, genuine, he listens and care for all his patients.

Dr. Packer took care of me for a severe hamstring injury related to a fall. I was very fortunate to have him for my doctor, The entire time I was under his care he explained everything to me each step of the way. I trusted his recommendations and he always provided clear instructions that I could understand. When my injury first occurred, Dr. Packer called me on the weekend to check on me and provide an update for my plan of care. I have referred friends and family to Dr. Packer. Great doctor!

I had the pleasure of being under the care of Dr. Packer who diagnosed and treated me for a medial meniscus tear in my right knee. He was very caring, professional and highly knowledgeable. He was very attentive and thorough with explaining my treatment options and answered all of my questions and concerns. The level of service that I received from my initial visit though out my surgical and post-op period was outstanding. My knee feels great and I've returned to my favorite hobby, bowling.

After experiencing severe calf cramping, I was sent to Dr. Packer where he did not stop searching until he found the correct diagnosis of Popliteal Artery Entrapment. He performed surgery with Dr. Sarkar at UMMC to free up my artery which allowed me to return to play. Following my return to play, I experienced nerve pain and calf cramping again. Dr. Packer just performed another surgery with Dr. Sarkar to free up damaged nerves and a fasciotomy in my calf. His care had been incredible.
