Better care is available elsewhere
Dr. Joseph LaPorta is a newer doctor I saw him as resident & doctor Sept 2023, so I thought he would be a part of some of the newest medical innovations and knowledge, but unfortunately I found his ability flat with a lack of understanding and confidence within this challenging field. While I do appreciate a second opinion on matters, I do find he should have confidence in basic intelligences of certain subject. You are often over spoken “as he knows best” and has been poor bedside manner. I hope as he progresses as a doctor, he learns a thing or two about patient care. I attempted over a year of care with Dr. LaPorta and still suffering from the same conditions with referral after referral when my condition is amongst his field. Finally, after speaking to another physician at UC, I was recommended to seek care elsewhere as it seems he wasn’t nor ever was the proper fit for me. If you would like to find a physician that will waste your time, then this is definitely the one for you.

Dr. LaPorta is the best.
Can’t believe no one has left a five-star review on this guy yet. He’s young, so that’s probably why. Dr. LaPorta has been following me for several years for suspected multiple sclerosis. When I first saw him, he was working with world-class neuroimmunologist Dr. Alison Jordan, who has since transferred to Columbus, I believe. I’m so so glad Dr. LaPorta stayed at UC Gardner Neuroscience after she left, because they’re both fantastic. Dr. LaPorta actually cares. He spends time. He’s empathetic. And on top of that, he is up-to-date on the cutting edge of…well, pretty much everything. I used to live in LA, and even my rheumatologists from Cedars-Sinai keep up with me, just cuz they were curious to know what happened in my case. I was like “My neuro at UC Gardner Neuroscience ordered x-and-x new test.”And the Beverly Hills Cedars-Sinai docs were like, “Oh my God. We didn’t even know this existed. That’s brilliant. We need to be using this. You have a great neuro!”
