I had set up an appointment with Dr. Joseph because a support specialists at Serenity Health felt that he would be the best fit for my situation. (I was looking to get help with managing my adhd meds) once I finally got to meeting Joseph he asked for my history, especially living with intrusive thoughts about death. But once brought up he paid no attention to my symptoms of ADHD and said it was all depression (I have my depression under control but he made sure to invalidate me on that). When I showed frustration and expressed that I don’t want to try medications I’ve already tried in the past because it would put me in a dangerous mental state (I had been in a treatment center for 8 months testing meds so I know what does and doesn’t work for me). He decided that this was me threatening to hurt myself and said I was trying to force him to prescribe stimulants. All of this was so demeaning and cruel.

Mental Health Community needs to be wary of him
Joseph Reistetter was the absolute worst mental health specialist I've had the displeasure of meeting. My husband has had very negative experiences thus far.Joseph validated every negative feeling he's had towards the profession. He went to Joseph for me, and I went with him to ease his anxieties towards the process. My husband was very open and honest with Joseph. We went through his meds, his past history, and what he's currently dealing with. At the end of the session, Joseph brought up trying a medication that has a bit of a stimulant. That reminded my husband to disclose his ADHD diagnosis and his current medication he's on to assist with it. Mind you, my husband went over an extensive list with Joseph, and his ADHD was not what we were there for, or what we wanted to prioritize. Joseph immediately became accusatory towards us as though we were purposefully hiding this diagnosis. Which made no sense, since we brought it up.Joseph was dismissive, rude, and unprofessional

Not the guy you want
My sisters and I brought our little brother to the LDS access center looking for some help. Because we couldn’t go back with him we asked that the Dr call me so we can make sure he understand what is expected and needed. Dr Reistetter called me as we waited outside the hospital. I told him about several difficult experiences that have gotten us to where we are with our brothers mental health and substance abuse. I also told him what kind of help we were looking for and asked what our options are and what he would recommend after talking to our brother. He didn’t say I word while I was talking almost like he wasn’t listening and then made a sarcastic, unfeeling comment about how “this is America” cementing the fact that he wasn’t listening, he didn’t care and basically the patients background and families input mean nothing. He has chosen the wrong profession and LDS hospital needs to remove him from their Access Center. They are guilty by association if his actions go unpunished.
