Substandard physician
Complete waste of time. Rude, rushed and passive aggressive among a host of other unfavorable traits and is untrustworthy. Something to never be tolerated by a client. Surprised she has a license to practice. Move along.

Smart, but Wrong Setting & Questionable Attitude
I’m a former patient who has moved on. She was very helpful back when she worked at Visions, which was a functional medicine practice. When Visions abruptly closed, Dr Emsbo moved on to the BI office she’s in. In my opinion, this is totally the wrong kind of setting for her to work in. With it being a standard medial proactive, there are naturally more rushed appointments. That is out of her control. What isn’t out of her control is her attitude towards patients. As another commenter stated, she can be dismissive, which is not a desired trait I tolerate in a doctor I go to. She also seemed to have trouble focusing as she used to be able to do at Visions. If a patient happens to have more than one issue, it makes it difficult for her deal with it and she seems stressed out. Additionally, she has appointment times during times there is no lab availability. Seeing that blood tests are an important part of an annual exam, I no longer accepted that, and her attitude, and left.

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Emsbo and think she is amazing across the board! She is kind, attentive and listens to my concerns. She always explains things thoroughly and gets to the root of your problems. I have found that calling the front desk can be difficult (put on hold or VM often) but emailing works well. Overall I’m really happy with her as my PCP!

She is rude and dismissive, does not seem to hear my concerns. I have been a patient for a few years and am leaving. Twice she has mis-coded my mammograms, costing me $700 each time. Currently on hold with her office (13 minutes of "please stay on the line..." during business hours) to try and fix the coding for the most recent one. At my last physical, I was 4 minutes late due to holiday traffic, and she took another patient ahead of me, causing me to wait 30 minutes. When I explained I was only 4 minutes late and that I didn't realize the traffic would be so bad 2 days before Thanksgiving, her response was a flippant "oh, poor you". I have changed PCPs, obviously, but still have to deal with re-coding the mammogram so I do not have to pay another $700 for something my insurance covers 100%. There are a zillion great doctors in the Boston area, choose one other than Kari Emsbo.

Rigid in her approach to treatment, goes too quickly during appointments, does not foster patient/dr. relationship and medical staff is very difficult to understand due to language barriers. Support staff needs significant improvement with patients Rushed by medical assistants. Overall, awful experience.
