Dr. Karl Meisel, MD

I am so happy that I talked to a doctor that explained and answered all my questions. If I could give more than 5 stars I would extremely excited to be his patient.

Dr. Meisel is an extraordinary, thorough,compassionate, tenacious, diagnostician. He persisted in testing and testing, until he determined causes related to many things I’d been asking my other physicians about for years, that were never previously resolved.

I saw Dr. Meisel after I had an abnormal brain MRI following a hypertensive episode which led to me being admitted to the emergency room at UCSF. He spoke in a language that I could understand and he answered all of my questions thoroughly. He put me at ease. He was very knowledgeable and I felt reassured that he was my doctor. A few days later his office called me at home to relay a message about an abnormal lab and my need to start medication. I feel comfortable being a patient in his very capable hands.

Everything the other positive reviews stated was true for me also. Dr. Karl Meisel was patient, concerned, kind mannered, very open to questions and explained everything thoroughly. Wish every doctor I went to was this way. We drove a long way ( and my wife and I are in our late sixties ) and were very stressed with the drive to and around downtown S.F. and all the traffic and after spending time with Dr. Meisel we were much more relaxed. He even has a wonderful sense of humor! Just...the best!

Dr. Meisel is a kind, knowledgeable physician - one of those both comfortable to talk to about your concerns and at the top of his field. I am glad to have been able to see him and his likewise wonderful colleague for my pulsatile tinnitus, for which there is no other specialized clinic in the world!

I was a patient of Dr. Meisel's for a couple years before he moved to California. He was fantastic. Very kind and spends time making sure you understand what's going on. I never felt like he was in a rush. He has a great bedside manner and was very knowledgeable about the health problems I had.

I traveled cross-country for his evaluation and consultation. I was completely worth it. He took extra time to make sense of my unusual case. He was clear that there isn?t enough information to know with certainty what to do, but he gave his heartfelt recommendations based on what he has been able to tease out of the science. Dr. Meisel was surprisingly sensitive about the emotional impact this disease has had on me and my family. I?ve thought about relocating to SF so I could be his patient.

I felt he was thorough and listened well and was curious....a trait that is always important to me.
