The 5 stars may seem repetitive but I assure you they are well deserved. I was recommended to Dr. Ken B. Mathis from several other physicians who he had actually worked on. True to form he is the best knee surgeon I have experienced. The one exception for me is the most kind, warm, compassionate office and bedside manner I have ever seen in a physician, nevertheless a surgeon! And you can trust from his experience he really does know what he's advising. Also appreciate he is not "knife happy"- meaning he will suggest other alternatives before surgery. Nice to see that in a surgeon. He has a full team so you can get your FMLA done as well. Highly recommend.

God’s Healing Hands
Dr. Kenneth Mathis has been God sent for me. He was highly recommended from several previous patients of his. I had been suffering from severe osteoarthritis pain to my right knee for the past 5 years. I decided to go and get a consultation from him and proceed with the total knee surgery he suggested. Currently, I am 6 weeks post-op and am recovering faster than expected. I could not be happier and pain free from the osteoarthritis. His bedside manner from pre-op to post-op is impeccable. He and his TEAM explained the surgery and findings in great detail while leaving me with no patient questions or concerns. I would highly recommend Dr. Kenneth Mathis to all that need his God sent HEALING HANDS.

When only the BEST will do! Dr Mathis is #1
I cannot say enough about Dr. Mathis to portray how I feel about his expertise and care. He went above and beyond in caring for me after I’ve had a knee replaced and 3 quadricep repairs from 3 different orthopedist. I wish I had met him before my knee nightmare began. Things would be different now! None of the other orthopedic surgeons even compared to Dr. Mathis. He made sure his recommendations for me were truthful and was patient in answering questions I have. He didn’t rush me into making “knee jerk” decisions or decide what is best for me on his own. He listened to me. If you need a great, knowledgeable, caring and precise orthopedic surgeon, your search is over. Choose Dr. Mathis and his team. You won’t regret it.

Amazing Surgeon
Dr. Kenneth Mathis performed a partial knee replacement surgery on my left knee. The surgery was very successful. Dr. Mathis is a highly skilled surgeon! He is the best and Hermann Memorial is lucky to have him on their staff. He and his staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. I would recommend Dr. Mathis to everyone that needs knee surgery!

The Best
Dr. Mathis is the best. His bedside manner is great. I have full confidence in whatever he does and recommends. My son-in-law is a physician and highly recommended Dr. Mathis as the best in the country. Dr. Mathis replaced my wife's knee, and she had perfect results. Easily walking within days. He replaced my hip, and I had great results. Walking without a cane within a week.

Dr. Mathis ??????????, won me over with his calm experienced, highly educated & very nice demeanor. I didn’t know him from Adam but I googled him & he had over 800 5 ?????????? reviews. Dr. Kevin Mathis earned everyone of them. He said, “I’ve never seen both sides of the ankle broken before”. I was surprised. He said, something about a plate…I didn’t want to hear it. Dr. Mathis assured me it would be allright. It was. I trusted Dr.Mathis. He has a great team worthy of trust. I’m glad I got him. ??

The Right Surgeon
Dr. Mathis and Ms. Williams worked as a team during my visits and surgery for total knee replacement. They were friendly and professional, and I trusted them to give me truthful answers. Previously, I had gone to three orthopedic surgeons, and I was not convinced that I wanted any of them to cut on me. I finally asked my cardiologist who he recommended, and he suggested Dr. Mathis. I chose the right surgeon. After twelve weeks post surgery, I am walking approximately 6,000 steps per day with little pain, and I am getting better each week. Dr. Patricia Williams

Top notch! He has done total replacements on both my hips, the surgery is easy to schedule, I spent one night in hospital each time because I live a couple of hours from the hospital but he tells me that many patients go home the same day. Rehab is easy, I ditched my walker on the third day and as I type this, six weeks post surgery, I am walking normally and without pain. Dr. Mathis is very friendly and easy to talk to, and the office and hospital staff were exceptional. The food’s good, too! I can’t recommend him highly enough!

I had both knees replaced in 2019. My experience with Dr Mathis, his team and the orthopedic hospital were all very positive. The Orthopedic Clinic for UT and the hospital both offer free parking which is a rare find these days. I have returned to normal activity and I am pain free in less than a year. I interviewed multiple knee surgeons and believe he and UT hospital are best options.

I am a physician. My mother-in-law lives in Houston and my wife took her to Dr. Mathis for second opinion. Dr Mathis never examined my mother-in-law.The next day a wound care specialist examined a bedsore at the upper end of her incision and pus drained out, she became septic, deathly ill and required emergency drainage of 2 L of pus from her infected prosthesis. I hope Dr. Mathis reads this review and takes to heart and “look under the hood” , examine your patients!!! Shame on you!!!!

This alleged doctor is a joke to his profession. After waiting 2 hrs to see him, taking unnecessary x-rays he took a few months ago, paying a co-pay, etc, he refused to provide an opinion about my right knee, because I had not used him to replace my right hip due to his posterior entry vs more modern anterior. He knew all this b4 I wasted all this time as his staff asked the reason for my appt. He was a complete pompous jerk about it but offered to repay my co-pay but not my time and expenses.

Dr Kenneth Mathis is a terrific orthopedic surgeon. When other orthopedic surgeons fail, Dr. Mathis and his team can absolutely resolve the problem. His staff is very professional and his choice of hospitals, Memorial Herman Orthopedic and Spine Hospital, is like a 5 star hotel. It caters to the patient in every way possible. After suffering with a botched hip replacement for 2 years, he had me walking (without a cain support) in 2 weeks. I highly recommend him!

What amazed me was that after all the surgery, various manipulations and associated procedures, I woke up to less pain than when I went in for the procedure. Great outcome. Five days out and I’m walking pretty much normally. Chidi....lovely lady, awesome nurse

I have never experienced a kinder, more passionate and compassionate doctor in all my 60 years. He is exceptional at his skill, but more than that, he is giving of his time when he is with you. He does not rush and will answer your questions before you ask as well as those you haven't thought of. There is no other doctor I would recommend so highly as I do Dr. Ken Mathis.

I find it hard to believe a real patient could write that Dr. Mathis is kind and caring. He is rude and arrogant and won't let a patient finish a sentence. He is running strictly a knee replacement factory and nothing else. If you go for an office visit with Dr.Mathis, you will see what I mean. I would not recommend this doctor to any one.

Dr Mathis replaced both my hips in 2000/2001. I am walking and not stuck in a wheelchair. He always gives me all the time I need and answers my questions. If you need orthopedic help in Houston, he is the guy to call. Ps my hips still are going stong, I just finished a week at scout camp.
