Got my life back!
One year ago I thought my life was over…I am relatively young but very physically active, and a lifetime of abuse on my body took its toll on my spine. As a nurse who has worked as a leader in ICUs as well as helped to build a spine and interventional pain practice on the east coast, I was terrified of having surgery. I did my research and found Dr. Holly—had a spinal fusion done in January, 2024. Flash forward to today, and I am back to the active lifestyle that I love (with a few minor modifications, of course!), relatively pain free! Dr Holly is not only an excellent surgeon, but he has a wonderful bedside manner. I feel like I’ve been given my life back!

Spinal Intramural-Extradural tumor
I met with 5 neurosurgeons before choosing Dr Langston Holly to remove an intradural extradural tumor in my spine. Unlike the other Drs I met with Dr Holly was honest about the need for me to be in the hospital. Dr Holly did not minimize this surgery. Dr Holly even had his colleague a tumor expert Dr Batzdorf assist in my surgery. I ended up in intensive care on my back for 5 days because Dr. Holly felt it was necessary to drain my spinal fluid every 30 minutes. Although it was a complicated surgery Dr Holly successfully removed this non cancerous tumor! Dr Holly came to visit me in intensive care care more than once and has always been friendly, kind and detailed in explaining everything to me. My recent MRI showed not evidence of a tumor! I would not go with any other Dr if you need spine surgery! I am 4 months out since my surgery June 2024. I have been able to travel to NYC. I am walking up hills in my neighborhood and swimming! I am very grateful to Dr Holly! #1 Neurosurgeon!!

My husband, Dave Roberts, had spinal stenosis for 20 or more years with all types of injections, medications, etc. He finally found Dr. Holly who made a small incision in his back and gave Dave 12 plus wonderful years of pain free living. What a blessing. Thank you Dr. Holly

THE BEST!
I met Dr Holly in 2004 - 2005 he performed a laminectomy with rods and screws and bone fusion. My recovery was nothing short of amazing. That was 19 years ago - so happy!

A skilled surgeon and a caring person.
After months of back and hip pain, and the inability to move or exercise, I got an MRI to see what the problem was. The first practitioner to see it murmured, “Oh dear.” That’s not encouraging. I had a cyst on my spinal cord, along with other damage.I was referred to Dr. Holly for surgery. Everything went well, and my recovery was easy.Three months after the surgery I am completely functional: long walks, jogging, ability to sit in a chair, and travel across the world—with virtually no discomfort. For context: I am in my 70s.And, while I have found some surgeons to be as prickly as a porcupine, Dr. Holly is a warm, empathetic, and patient man.I am blessed to have found him to do this surgery and turn my life around.

I would absolutely highly recommend Dr. Holly!
I cannot say enough good and wonderful things about Dr. Holly as a person and a physician. He is amazing! He has done a work of art on me. I had stage 2 unstable L5-S1 spondylolisthesis when I went to him. He did the 360 spinal fusion procedure on me, open in the front and percutaneous incision in the back. I feel so wonderful! I can walk about 4 to 5 miles each day and I am almost 5 months post op. Honestly I would not let anyone do spine surgery on me but him! God has blessed him with an ability to do such complex surgeries so beautifully! I thank God for him. Also, he is the kindness, gentle, understanding man with a beautiful heart! He listens! He cares! Dr. Holly is truly is the BEST!

C -Spine Surgery /Spondylolisthesis (L5 - S1)
Dr Langston Holly is a brilliant and skillful neurosurgeon. From the moment I met him, I knew that I had found the surgeon that I would trust 100% to take care of my spine surgery. He is caring and compassionate. I am extremely happy that I made that important decision, because it has literally changed my life. He successfully performed my C-Spine surgery and lumber spine fusion for spondylolisthesis. Since my C-spine surgery (C6-C7) in 2022, the neck & arm pain that I had endured for over 5 years has been completely resolved. six weeks ago Dr. Holly performed Transferominal Lumbar Interbody Fusion with cage at L5 - S1. I woke up after surgery without the agonizing pain in my lower back, hip and leg that I had endured for over 8 months, and the numbness & tingling down my leg had disappeared completely. I would like to thank Dr. Holly for two outstanding spine surgery experiences. My family and I are eternally grateful to him for giving me my life back. My quality of life has improved.

L4/L5 Microdiscectomy
Doctor Holly recently performed an L4/L5 microdiscectomy to resolve debilitating sciatic pain in my right leg that I had been struggling with for years after an acute disc injury. I can't speak highly enough about my experience as a patient of Dr. Holly's during this process. He took the time to explain the risks, recovery/rehabilitation protocols, and expected long term outcomes of the procedure. And, more importantly, everything went extremely well! I am three months out from the procedure with no nerve pain and am nearly back to full activity. With Dr. Holly you are in excellent, experienced, hands...

Beyond grateful for Dr. Holly and his service - I underwent a microdiscectomy this past May and Dr. Holly removed my herniated disc which was causing me severe pain and impacting my daily life severely. Please read my whole review on other review pages - ultimately I had multiple surgeon consults and am SO grateful I chose Dr. Holly - he is the best! He is incredibly professional, answered all my questions and also made me aware of all potential risks and outcomes (although highly unlikely). At the end of the day he healed me and removed my pain and I now feel like I have my life back. Thank you Dr. Holly - I appreciate everything you've done for me!

I can't express enough how grateful I am for Dr. Holly. The neurosurgeons in the county that I had to see weren't able to help me with my Chiari Malformation and told me that it really wasn't that bad so I shouldn't be having the symptoms that I was and I was referred to Dr. Holly for a second opinion. I was so afraid that he was going to tell me that he couldn't help me either but hearing that he was confident that he could help me gave me so much relief and hope because I thought I would have to live with those symptoms. I especially appreciate his tolerance for my concern over shaving off my hair because that really was important to me.

Dr. Holly is without a doubt the best neurosurgeon around. I injured my lower lumbar (herniated disk between L4&L5). We live in Southern California so we went to UCLA urgent care, (which is a progressive, teaching hospital, giving them access to the latest research and cutting edge technologies). I was lucky to be seen by Dr. Holly with my first urgent care visit. I thought him both informative and assuring with his knowledge of different therapies. When we finally decided surgery was the best option for me, I followed up researching their Spine Center's Department of Neurosurgery and found not only Dr. Holly is the Co-Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Neurosurgery, Co-Director of UCLA Spine Center, but that when other doctors have back issues he is the man they all go to!! Dr. Holly is simply the best! I felt super safe in his hands. Not to mention he has a quick sense of humor that puts people at ease. He gave me detailed information on what my procedure would l

Excellent doctor. Thorough and conservative in his approach. He is not a surgeon who will pick up his scalpel if the diagnosis is not compelling. Thank you Dr. Holly for your honest approach and always doing what's best for the patient.

I would strongly recommend dr Holley. I visited three surgeons and the least complicated procedure was recommended by dr Holly. He listened to the alternatives I have learned about and supported his choice by running an additional x-ray to assure me about the correct procedure. Two weeks after surgery I am walking, the outcome is excellent. On follow up he answered all my questions. Dr Holley surgical team and the office staff was very professional.

Excellent. I am in my early 70s. I contacted Dr. Holly for lamenectamy of L-2 through L-5. Dr. Holly reviewed my medical records and was the first spinal surgeon willing to give me a prognosis I that I would notice a “substantial improvement”of the extremel extreme I had was suffering from. Immediately after a few days at the Santa Monica Hospital, I was pain free. Its now about 4 weeks after surgery and I will be starting physical therapy. To say that I am grateful for the his excellent staff at his office and the staff at Santa Monica Hospital, would also be an under statement. I highly recommend him.

I had surgery performed by Dr. Holly last month and he is amazing! I have zero back pain now after not being able to even walk before my surgery. Dr. Holly and his team are awesome! They are so organized and efficient. If I had questions they would answer almost immediately. Dr. Holly is such a knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. He has a great sense of humor, too! I had a great experience at UCLA Orthopedic Hospital too. Very attentive and caring nurses. Can’t say enough good things about the care I received. ?? Thank you all so much.
