Dr. Leonard Nelson, MD

We are so lucky to have found him after Penn State Hershey did a poor job with my daughter’s care. She is highly myopic and needed strabismus surgery. He is so knowledgeable and experienced in his field. You can gather that in minutes of speaking with him. We personally love him. I do see a few comments in regards to his personality. He is direct and does not sugar coat things but that’s ok with me. He is kind, compassionate, caring, good sense of humor and most importantly EXCELLENT at what he does. He is awesome and we are so thankful for the years he’s helped us. We drive 90 minutes one way to see him.

He may be good with kids, but he was extremely rude to me. He wouldn't give me a chance to talk, and jumped to an inaccurate conclusion because he wasn't listening. I felt like I was a bother to him. I would NEVER see him again.

He is a great doctor.. I have been seeing him for years.. he gives great advice!! T.

He has been my son's eye doctor since he was < 3 years old. He helped correct my sons lazy eye and provided him with great compassion.

Dr. Nelson fixed my daughter’s eye which had been previously operated on incorrectly. For that I am very grateful. He is an extremely busy physician who caring when you have a problem. If you are seeking a physician to spend a lot of time with you, he is probably not the right person. He gets to the point and moves on to the next patient.. rarely wait more than 20-30 minutes and go there at least twice a year or more.

Wonderful doctor! He was highly recommended to me by one of his patients. He was upfront about possibly needing two surgeries, one for each eye, and that is what eventually was needed. It took me 10 years to get the surgery done, and once he did the first one, I questioned why I waited so long to do it. He made it easy with what to expect and recovery time. No one likes to think about eye surgery, but I'm SO glad I went to one of the best eye surgeons around! Highly recommend Dr. Nelson!

The absolute BEST.

Had the displeasure of my daughter having 3appoints. w/Dr. Nelson. 1st appoint. he was fine, not partially inviting and had me question why he worked w/children. I thought that maybe the next visits would be better;the same. My daughter complained that her glasses were blurry& could not see; took them back to him and he pretty much scolded her, left w/bad prescription and another bill.Took her to a different Dr, and all is well now.How great are you if you won't listen to your patients concerns?

This brilliant surgeon saved my daughter's eye sight. He really cares about his patients. I highly recommend this surgeon.

Although I liked dr. Nelson (clearly knows what he is doing); I was less than impressed with the nursing staff. My son (20 months) is small at 21 pounds. On the day of his probe the nurse incorrectly recorded his weight using the field for his BMI (an error). My husband heard her order medication for 13.9 kg which converts to 30 pounds. Lucky my husband caught prior to medication. They rushed us from center after procedure. My son screamed for 3 hrs and they forgot to take the leads off him!
