She literally saved me
Dr. McGuire took so much time answering all of my questions and many concerns at what was supposed to be a brief meeting of my colorectal cancer team. She later preformed my surgery and was always very attentive. She left the hospital where I receive care when moving to Penn Medicine. I credit her for my recovery of stage 3B colorectal Cancer and now three years remission. She is a wonderful surgeon and person.

Undiagnosed fissure kept me in pain for 9 months
I saw Dr. Maguire after being in excruciating pain for a month and a half. I could barely work and could not sit at all. She examined me and said, "Your hemorrhoids are tiny" and said I might have had a fissure. She didn't do anything to help me. My pain continued for another 9 months, when I finally saw another colorectal surgeon who is treating my fissure, which is still there. I only found out I had a fissure during a colonoscopy 7 months after I saw Dr. Maguire (there is a long wait at Penn for colonoscopies). By the time I had the colonoscopy, I was so scared I had cancer, they did a diagnostic colonoscopy, which is not fully covered by insurance, and I paid $1,200. And I was in terrible pain for most of a year, which was untreated because of Dr. Maguire.
