I had two fusions by Dr Belza. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use him. Second surgery he used a device that shifted into my bone and required a third surgery to repair and stabilize the spine. Posterior instrumentation and fusion was done by another surgeon. Over the years I have had multiple conversations with surgical nurses and other medical staff about Dr Belza. They all told me he was not a good surgeon and was disrespectful to his patients- even in surgery. I have continued issues with my spine due to the fusion he performed.

Excellent results after emergency disc replacement
Dr Belza saved me in 2019 after an ER doctor wanted to discharge me from ER. I went to ER with severe left arm pain and headache, neck pain and confusion. ER doctor wanted to send me home, saying, “It’s probably just a bad migraine”. My wife asked can’t they get an MRI given my history of spine problems. ER doctor replied “Sure, but I don’t think it’ll change my diagnosis”. He was so wrong. Shortly after the neck MRI, ER DR returned and said “Looks like you’ll be staying here; the on call neurosurgeon (Dr Belza) saw the MRI and feels that you need surgery right away”. Dr Belza came in and explained that I had severe compression of spinal cord at one level in my neck. He said I could easily become paralyzed if they didn’t operate right away. He installed the MOBI-C artificial disc in my neck. After recovery, pain was completely gone, and the MOBI-C gave me good movement in neck. I always found Dr Belza to be very attentive during my follow-up visits too. I am very thankful for him!

I've spent 20 years in the medical field so I've dealt with hundreds of physicians and surgeons. Dr. Belza has a very calm demeanor and great bedside manner. He was not going to stop testing or referring me to other specialists until we found the source of my fairly rare condition. Luckily, it didn't require surgery but I would have felt comfortable with Dr. Belza performing it if need be. I would highly recommend him.

Saw him for the first time today, 7/19/21. A star rating is easy. He has a caring, gentle bedside manner, communicates well, is a conservative treater, meaning he does not rush to perform surgery and obviously highly intelligent. Stanford neurosurgery residency grad, one of the best schools in the nation. Look it up! I had the privilege during my working years to work alongside physicians from the likes of Harvard and Johns Hopkins, a couple of the best out there along with Stanford. Dr, Belza is one of the best out there. I have a spinal issue that will gradually worsen and at some point require surgery. I want Dr. Belza to practice long enough to do the procedure. I would not give such a glowing account if I did not absolutely believe in him.

I met Dr. Belza under 'emergency' situation with several difficulties in my spine at the St. Charles Hospital in Bend, Oregon. Time was of utmost importance, my abilities to stand & walk had declined significantly in a very short period. (In the interest of space and time allotted here)..this man is a God send, I was lucky he was available, all went as he said it would, I'm recovering well and couldn't possibly ask for more. I would not hesitate to refer him to anyone with complete confidence!
