I was very nervous, but he put me at ease right away and listened when I told him I was hard to numb. He checked with me and made sure I was comfortable.

Wonderful Doctor/Surgeon
Dr Gardner replaced my total knee 3/14/23. He came to see me in OR waiting, asked if he could pray with me & said a beautiful prayer. He was a skillful surgeon - my incision was perfect. He answered all my questions, both before and after surgery, and he’s always available by email and is very prompt in responding. I wouldn’t trust my bones to anyone else!

terrible experience
I saw Dr Gardner only on the recommendation of someone I knew. They said he was a wonderful Christian physician. The doctor I saw was always in a rush ,had a student doc see me 1st & that guy said there was nothing wrong with my knee. Well, scan showed I was bone on bone. I was not treated nicely by the Doctor at all. Show him some ointment a friend gave me to help relieve the pain prior to surgery - Dr Gardner stood there looked at me & said so I tell my patient's to use that all the time. ARe you kidding me , never told him. I found him to be so rude. He did a scope on my knee. Would not recommend at all. He needs to know what compassion looks like

Appliances
After the doctor's thorough knee exam and helpful injection, I was fitted with an awkward rubber brace that provided no support. A month later I was personally billed $29.61 after my insurance was billed $148.00. The ineffective and uncomfortable brace was removed after I returned home from the doctor's office. When I questioned the bill, I was offered no recourse or options. Such an unprofessional protocol to associate with expensive and ineffective devices.

Dr. Gardner replaced my shoulder. Perfect incision. Physical therapists knew he was my doctor because I rehabilitated and healed so quickly. My daughter works in O.R. with him. Her opinion is that he is as good or better than any doctor from Pittsburgh. I'm very happy with experience. Bedside manner could be better. I never saw him once put in hospital room, only his associates, which were not all great bedside doctors.

I had a hip replacement back in May of 2015, (by another doctor) complications followed. Went to Pittsburgh 2 doctors (only to find out I should of never had a hip in the first place) and felt like no one cared or didn't want to get involved. My PCP (Dr. Sabrina Varga) who listened to my concerns got me in to see Dr. Gardner and what a blessing. He did a 3 Phase bone scan and is going to take care of the problem. He takes time to listen and is very caring. His staff is very nice.
