CSpine Surgery
I cannotot speak highly enough of Dr. Mahan and the wonderful nursing staff at the South Jordan facility. I was diagnosed with a severe herniated disc at 6/7, which was pinching my nerve and causing severe weakness and onset atrophy in my left tricep. After failed PT, I consulted with three surgeons. One wanted to do disc replacement surgery and the other a microdiscectomy, both required multiple weeks off work and a painful recovery. Dr. Mahan was the only Dr I found who offered laproscopic herniation removal. The surgery was two hours, and post-op recovery about 1.5 hrs. The incision was a mere .20 inch incision, picture 3 week post op attached. By day three, the strength in my arm was returning, and I took hikes through arches and canyonland. Seriously unreal. Thank you, Dr. Mahan and team, I'm blessed to have found your practice.

Superior surgeon
Endoscopic lumbar decompression, September 2022. The surgery was a breeze and changed my life in an instant. I am now active, happy, and healthy after years of enormous pain and disability. I am finally out of pain thanks to Dr. Mahan. Besides his obvious surgical skills, he is so positive and kind.

Doctor Mayhan spinal stimulator installation
I had a spinal stimulator installed in 2018 and it didn’t work. I was highly disappointed since the trial had worked so well he told me to contact Nevro who built the stimulator but I was having a difficult time contacting them. I told him it was his responsibility to get this thing working And that created a problem for him. That way to an unpleasant conversation. About a year later I had to redo the leads for my cervical region, which he performed and with extra tear on my part work well. Several months ago I asked for an x-ray, and he told me to go to my GP to get a prescription. I asked him to analyze it, and he refused to deal with me. In spite of all that, I believe he’s a highly competent and caring doctor.

He does not prepare adequately for surgery.
Very distressing. He didn’t order pre-op blood work. He didn’t review my medical history. Blood work and Echocardiogram were hastily done the morning of surgery, ordered by anesthesiologist, NOT Dr Mahan. We had ONE pre-op consult during which he assured he could correct L4 spondylolisthesis via posterior surgery. He did not correct. I’m in constant pain. Terrible bedside manner. Zero follow-up. I believe I represented nothing but a paycheck for Mark Mahan.

Dr. Mahan is the very best neurosurgeon you could possibly choose. Highly skilled, thorough in communications, personable. Had 3 surgeries done by him with excellent results every time.

I assume this is Doctor Mahan in South Jordan, Utah. I have seen his physician assistant (Leah Frazer), and Dr. Mahan performed a surgery on my left ulnar nerve. So far I’m very impressed. What has really impressed me is someone with good looks and high intelligence has such a good bedside way. I wish Dr. Mahan years and years of helping people.
