Dr. Marta Sovilj, MD

Dr. Sovilj has been my primary physician for probably 20 years. She is fantastic, thorough and very proactive. She is always prompt and never keeps you waiting. I hope she never retires or leaves the clinic.

My wife and I have been going to Sansum Clinic for over 35 years. We travel from California's Central Valley to be assured of great medical care; about a 5 hour drive each way. We have always been very pleased and impressed with our doctors care and professionalism. Obviously, we have seen many doctors for various medical needs over these years, and Sansum doctors are 'top notch' but Dr Sovilj is our favorite.

Dr. Sovilj is an excellent doctor. She saved my mother's life by sending from office to hospital and immediate surgery. As for me, she is very thorough, straight forward and caring. When I have a medical issue she leaves no stone unturned to get to the bottom of the issue. I go from her office to testing to procedure in an amazing time due to her advocacy. If I leave a message for information or direction her triage nurse responds the same day. Also, her scheduler, Joe, is excellent. I have the needed appointments before I leave the clinic. I also get a hug.

Doctor Sovilj has looked after our entire family for over ten years now - and for that we thank our lucky stars. She is smart, she is efficient, she is honest and she is very down to earth. Over the years she has guided us through a myriad of health challenges, always providing highly knowledgeable insights and options with our best interests at heart. We look forward to each and every visit, especially my elderly mother, and we highly recommend her.

Dr. Sovilj takes has great 'bedside manner' and meets my need to have lab and test results explained in a straight forward, clear manner. She always allows time for questions. She personalizes each appointment.

Sixteen years ago my husband and I retired and moved to Santa Barbara. I needed a new primary doctor. Dr. Sovilj was recommended to me by the kidney specialist I was seeing. What a blessing. Dr Sovilj is a gem - punctual, polite, professional. She’s well prepared and demonstrates Knowledge of her field. I feel she is concerned for my well-being. I feel safe with her and know I am getting the best care.

We have had the good fortune and privilege to be patients of Dr. Marta Sovilj of Sansum Clinic for 25 years. As a Board Certified Internal Medicine, she has been our primary care provided, referring us as needed to specialists. These specialists always comment on what a competent and dedicated physician she is as well as an extraordinary advocate for her patients. In addition to her medical skills, we find her personable, energetic and feel completely confident in her care. N.B. On a personal note, Dr. Sovilj once saved my life my insisting that I had my kidney pain treated rather than just letting it heal on its own.

Dr. Sovilj is prompt, polite, respectful, and incredibly knowledgeable. I feel lucky to be her patient. She has personally called other doctors if I need a referral for any special service, which makes all procedures so much easier. She truly cares about her patients, and her patients are lucky to have her.

Upon moving to Santa Barbara, I was introduced to the Sansum Clinic, and Dr. Sovilj was recommended to me. I am so grateful to have her as my primary doctor, and if I need recommendations for a phyisician in another capacity she has given me excellent choices. I feel that she has my best interest at heart always. She runs a tight ship, the wait times for my appointments are minimal, and if I have any question, I can send it via my chart, and I receive a prompt reply. I feel blessed to have her in my life.

Dr. Sovilj is an excellent and thorough doctor. I came in a few years ago because of an odd EKG from a surgery, which she helped me discover that and other issues and treat. Then she became my regular doctor and helped me get my cholesterol, blood pressure, and weight in control. She's very punctual and was willing to meet me at an earlier time so I can schedule an appointment sooner. She cares about her patients. I have moved away and wish I could find a doctor as good as her.

I first came to Sansum and Dr. Sovilj approx 10 years ago when local doc could not diagnosis health problem. Based on my symptoms and after initiating blood work, she sent me to Sansum specialists for further evaluating and testing. Two years later, my husband had a similar experience with Dr. Sovilj after local doctors could not diagnose his illness. During a 4-day stay being evaluated 4 specialists, he had a surgery and we were on our way home, 4 hrs. away. She is our primary care doc!
